I've been running my streetrod with a G System in a rack. Works well but I do hear some tone being lost. Just wondering if anybody else has experience or suggestions using the g system with the streetrod. I've had the G for over a year and the splawn just a few months. Have a line 6 wireless, into g, a couple pedals in the loops I don't use much, then the time based effects in the loop. The "four cable" method if you're familiar with th G System. One thing that was great is it's incredibly quiet. I had problems with noise using the G System with my mesa lonestar. I have it set up to switch channels and using the boost in the G.
Thanks!

I experienced the same tone loss using the G-sys with a Nitro. Used it for about a year and realized I liked my tone a lot more without it and went back to floor pedals with a loop switch. The G-sys is great, just wasn't for me.

Never tried the G System, but I've tried a lot of rack processors over the years and found only two manufacturers whose processors don't alter the original tone... Eventide and Rocktron. There may be others, I just haven't found any. I have found issues when running rack processors and pedals in the amp F/X loop and controlling via programmable switcher. There's a drop in sound level and quality when the pedal loops are switched in. This may be part of what you're hearing. For this reason I just run all pedals out front. It was suggested to me that I might try an EQ device (pedal or rack) in the line feeding the pedals, with an overall level control. Not so much to shape the sound, although you could, but to overcome the difference in sound level of the pedals compared to the processor. Can't say from personal experience how well that would work as I just opted to put the pedals out front.

I use a Boss GT-10 in the 4 cable method. I lose a very little bit of the edge off my SR tone. Most people wouldn't even notice it. I don't miss it -- the amp still sounds great with the 4 CM and the GT-10. Most of the time, I just run it with reverb, delay, and/or compression. First time setting it up, it took a little while to get the unity gain settings on the GT just right. Make sure your gain settings on the G system and all the way through it's internal FX chain are set correctly.
