Is It Possible To Remove The Splawn Cabs Grill?

Hey guys, I want to experiment with how the grill affects the sound of the cab, so I was thinking of removing it. Is it removable or is it permanently installed? I've opened the back of the cab and there are screws on the baffle board that might be holding the grill cloth.
Are they really the grill screws or do they just hold down the baffle board?
