Hey guys, I think I'm going to pull the trigger on a 4x12 I've found.
Splawn Straight 4x12 16 ohm
2 x Eminence Patriots, 2 x Celestion G12T75
What do you guys think of this speaker combination?
All I've ever had is my OS slant recto cab (V30's).
I play a lot of TOOL, people were telling me to get Smallblocks.
I'm worried about the low end being unable to handle the QR's magic.
I'm thinking I'll just get the cab, and if I don't like this speaker combo, get 4 small blocks. What do you guys think.
Anything is better than the Mesa at this point, it just doesn't mesh
with the quickrod in my opinion.

Well you can always give it a try and see what you think. I didn't care for the G12t75 s but they weren't mixed with the patriots. This combo may sound awesome. I guess it is a personal quest and everyones ears are different. I can tell you that the small blocks are kicking and mesh well with the QR for sure. Let us know what you think if you pull the trigger : )

Yeah I think I'm going to go ahead and get it. I really need a Splawn cabinet. 550$ is a pretty good price, considering it'd be shipped here for that. I just wanted to see if anyone had tried these speakers out yet. Scott sells the smallblocks for 75$ a pop right? Because that's another 300$ to get them to my door if I don't like the ones in the cab. Then I mind as well order a new cabinet that matches my quickrod.

Honestly if you have the cash you might as well get a cab right from Scott for $750. The small blocks are listed under special 1 on the online store and I think they are 95 bucks a piece. So you are talking almost another 400 on top of 550 it's somthing to think about anyway : )

Yeah I agree, just go for the new cab at that price. Trust me, the SB-25's do NOT fart out! They are 55 watts each, just 5 watts less handling then a V30.
