Here you guys go. Here is half of the tone I was after. I recorded this vicarious cover, I had the leaked copies of the tracks from guitar hero. So I was able to remove adams guitar parts, keep everything else. I double tracked the whole song, this was recorded in under an hour. Just trying to show you guys the tone, nothing too insane. Soon I will have a Diezel VH4 in stereo with my quickrod. I already love the tone I'm getting as well. AND THIS IS THROUGH A MESA CAB =[ Can't wait for my splawn cab. www.netmusicians.org/index.php?section=user&value=SilverburstDiezel

Thanks brother!! I always tell people it's much more in the fingers then you think. I can pull a similar tone to Adam on almost any EL34 amp with the mids cranked.
Although without the VH4 the stereo spread obviously doesn't sound anywhere near as good. It's lacking the Gut wrenching clean, tight, snarly, VH4 distortion.
But all in all, for doing that extremely fast it sounds pretty alright.
Thanks for listening!!!!!!!

You can’t discount the six-figure mastering process either. His tone on that album is the best he’s had so far. Just aggressive and mean as f@*k!

I agree 1000000000% His tone on that album was definitely amazing. But a lot of that was 3 or 4 amps blended at once. I still think a lot more could have been done, tone wise. I feel like I'm going to have a better tone than him as soon as I can get my VH4 and Splawn Cab and the right guitar. I find that Adam doesn't dial tones in enough. He found something he liked and never changed or experimented with other avenues. ( hids mids and treble are always maxed, bass is always at 4)

In the past I always thought his tone was mediocre except for maybe undertow. I really think switching to Joe Barresi as producer helped a lot because it seems he forced Adam to get out of the comfort zone and add more flavor to the tone with other amps. Barresi is more of a guitar rock producer anyway and knows how to get awesome tones. I wouldn’t be surprised if you live tone was better with the Splawn and the Diezel.

I agree 100% man. It's great to talk to someone who actually understands it aswell.
I can honestly agree, I think the splawn and the Diezel will just wreck everything else around.

Really good man - I enjoyed that a lot - My cover band does quit a bit of tool and this is some of the best tone I've heard to do it.
