when i take my nitro off of standby the a loud cloud of white noise even if i have my guitar volume down all the way if i have it up and start playing it grows and volume and the white noise dies down and doesn't come back till the next time i turn the amp off and the next time after the map is turned off what could be causing this?

Any chance you're using a noise suppressor?

You might try taking the unit out of the loop and/or chain and see if it still does it. That "growing in volume, then dying down" description sounds like it may have something to do with the noise reduction unit. If it still does it then I would look to the tubes before taking it to a tech. I would try replacing (preferred) or swapping V1 and V2 in the preamp section first. If that didn't solve it then I would try a different set of PT's. Good luck!

when i run a noise suppressor in the loop and front it stops it and it only happens when i initially take it out of standby i have new tubes and changed the pres and it still dose it but it seems as if my pts still have life in them the bias is still holding at 51 (kt88s) so it seems fine besides that

So the white noise is consistent with no noise reduction unit running? And... by white noise are you referring to preamp hiss, or something else? If the NS-2 eliminates the noise but it comes up when going from standby to on, then goes down, then I gotta think it's the NS-2 just taking a second or so to see the signal and to kick in when you first turn on the amp. If you have access to another unit (Decimator, or other), try it and see if it works any better.

its just wierd cus if i plug straight in it theres a loud hiss and ill play a little bit and it takes a while for my guitar volume to come through the hiss but after a little the hiss just dies down with and without the ns-2

That sounds more like a tube issue to me. Or... possibly even a bad cord. Does it do it in the clean channel? If not... try swapping the preamp tubes. The culprit is usually either V1 or V2 if it's only happening in the gain stage.
