My pro stock has Mercury tranny so I assume it is older version from the info I've read on here. I don't have the 50/100 watt switch on the back like everyone else says theirs has and I also only have 2 OD's on one gear with a boost for solo. The only way to switch is with the foot switch which is a marshall foot switch with 2 buttons on it. Am I missing something here? Do I need a splawn foot switch to have 2 gears and 3 OD's? Or am I supposed to only have 1 gear with 2 OD's? I really love this amp though. It's the best amp I've ever owned!

The Pro Stock foot switch should have three buttons and allows you to switch between gears 1 & 2, or 2 & 3 depending on where the front panel switch is set (1st or 3rd Gear). It also allows you to switch between OD1/OD2 and has the Solo Boost button as well. If you don't have the original Splawn foot switch you could always by one from Scott. If you have an F/X processor that is also capable of amp switching you may be able to do it that way. Otherwise you would have to incorporate a programmable loop switching device and midi pedal.

Right, but I think he has an early amp that doesn't have gears.
Do you have a gear knob on there at all, briman?

Hi Guys, Thanks for the quick responses. I don't have a switch on the front of my amp for gears. I think my amp must be one of the first ones. I also don't have a 50/100 watt switch. I really really love this amp. I've been tone chasing for 14 years and I am 100% happy with this beast. The only thing is that when I roll back the volume knob on guitar to get a clean tone, I find it's ok sounding but when I use a chorus pedal with that ....... the signal isn't as full sounding. Anyways I don't play clean often but today I borrowed a tube screamer pedal from a buddy and am gonna give that a try. If the gain sounds the same as the pre amps gain then I will use the pedal but we'll see tonight when I get home. (10 pm). So with this pedal I can turn off and on for clean or dirty. My final question for today to you is where should I put this pedal in the chain. I would think it should go second after my wah and then after that is my compressor then flange, phase and Noise suppresor to the front of amp. I have delay, eq and chorus in the loop. I use my eq pedal in loop as a volume pedal and it sounds great. I just turn down the output level.

I would run everything else in the same order as you suggest. I would only wonder about the compressor if you're planning to use it at the same time as the Tube Screamer... which I'm thinking you probably wouldn't? I don't currently have a flanger on my pedal board but do have a phaser. I used to run both and didn't find any difference in sound running phaser then flanger or the other way around. But again... I didn't use 'em at the same time.

Yeah I think my compressor isn't necessary. I still haven't tried the tube screamer yet. Hopefully I'll have time tonight.

Ok so I tried tube screamer and decided that I don't need it cause the amp doesn't clean up perfectly by turning the amp's pre amp almost to 0. It cleans up better with the guitar volume no matter what the pre amp level is so a TS is pointless.

Yes,
I got tired of OD and dist pedals. Quickrod took care of that! You can buff up the clean tone by running the gain at or past noon, and which chorus are you using?

I am using a boss super chorus ch-1. If I put my pre amp knob at noon I would have crazy distortion. I have it at 10 o'clock and it's van halen like distortion or ac dc.

Call me with the serial #. Does it have 2 inputs? If it don't have a gear knob. Then your in gear 2 all the time.

Hi Josh, It does have 2 inputs and the serial number is PS104046. There is no gear knob. I am using a marshall 2 knob switch pedal that switches on and off the solo boost and also changes gear? Not sure if it's a gear or just OD1 to OD2 or something but it definetely has a little more gain when I switch it. Thanks for you help!

That is the 46th amp we built. So no modes. It just switches OD1 and OD2. The mode switch didn't happen till about a hundred amps later. Low input would be similar to gear 1, High input would be similar to gear 2.
