So I took my PM over to my buddy's house the other day for a jam session and we were screwing around with each others gear. He was really impressed by my splawn cab (4x12, small blocks) and the sound it made with my PM (which is phenomenal, by the way, I just got it), so he plugged his Mesa roadster into it and gave that a shot. Funny thing is, it sounded terrible. I guess if you like grunge or something it would be ok, but it completely lacked the crisp, defined distortion that the Pro-Mod gives out. Ive heard splawn cabs are custom tweaked to be the best cab for a splawn head, but has anyone else tried different heads through them or experienced this? I thought it was weird...
Also, before anyone starts ripping on the mesa, its sounds great through his mills cabs. The two head actually really complement each other the way we had it setup.

I've use my Splawn 4x12 with Gov and Manowars for my Quick Rod and my 6505+. Ideally I'd love to hook up my 6505+ to my Mesa 4x12, but don't have the extra room now. They both sound great.

i have my modded 6505 running through two cabs..a splawn 4x12 with small blocks and a meas traditional cab with v30s and the difference is the splawn cab is warmer and does not have the mid spike or top end that the mesa cab has,and the mesa cab is louder i guess since the speakers are more efficient. if i had to pick just one with my current setup it would be the mesa.
but running both together compliment each other really nicely and will blow your socks off. i mic one of each speaker and the mix of the two through the pa is nothing short of MONSTROUS!!!

That's the only problem I have with the SBs. They are not as efficient(loud) as my other speakers. If i'm playing both cabs, the SB loaded cab is noticeably quieter. My other amps sound good through them though.

I did run a Cornford MK50 II and Soldano Hot Rod 50+ through a 4x12 Splawn cab loaded with Big Blocks. And both amps sounded great through the cab. Don't know why the Boogie didn't sound good. Been impressed with all the Splawn cabs I have had the pleasure to check out.
