Right. I swore I'd stop messing with speakers. I found Greenbacks last, after many other varieties, and they are my total favorites. My desert island speakers. But I can't help but tinker. Lately I visited the speaker closet and pulled out an H30 to mix with a Greenie in my 2x12. There's some sort of myth that this isn't meant to be nice, so it's one combo I hadn't tried in all my experimenting. It works absolutely beautifully with the Competition! Such a pleasing tone. I wrote a thing about it, please read that for more info. It includes a rad graph showing why this works, and also this image:

Ja,
I have long thought so too. I had a pair of scumback equivalents in a south bay cab that sounded magnificent with my marshall amp. I think it was great with the Splawn, just not enough power handling. These speakers also combine well with the common as dirt g12t 75w, filling in the midrange.
Does Scott still sell the Big Block? :- )
Have fun!

Oh yeah, I think while into this I did hear about a Scumback equivalent that was good. Maybe using the 55Hz version of the H30-a-like?
Man it's good with the Celestions. It just has everything. (And enough power handling for me of course, with a 50/30 watt Competition.)
Yeah, I suppose a Small Block/Big Block cross would be the Eminence equivalent. Hmmm...

Yeah,
a newbie is selling the Big Blocks out of his cab. I am getting 2. He has 2 more. I have an H55 Scumback, 65w. I could share...(provided I didn't explode the Scumback on my RM100!)
Later!
