Problem:
I'm playing my Nitro out of the world's poopsiest speakers. A B-52 4x12...yikes. It sounds awesome compared to my other amps but is a bit floppity, and I know that's my crummy speaker situation.
Solution:
I'm going to get a Splawn cabinet once I learn to trip over a pile of money. That being said, I'm going to get a 2x12 because I simply don't need the volume of a 4x12 and I'm sick of every wretched sound guy at every club in RI telling me to turn down my stage volume to the point that it sounds bad.
Question:
Should I get a pair of SB's / A pair of BB's / or one of each? I've never heard either so I'm trusting the guys at splawn to make bad ass sounding speakers and enclosures and I'm trusting you guys to direct my speaker decision, or at least lend me some advice.
Details:
I think I like the look and the smaller footprint of the vertical designed cab. Any downsides to that? I live in RI, even our stages are small.

what b52 cab do you have i have the at4x12 420 watt cab and it sounds fine with my nitro its not floppy at all u might want to mess with the resonance setting and see if that helps i have it almost all the way off and it sounds amazing to my ears but opinion is subjective so just food for thought

Awesome...thanks for your help...and I suppose for Windsen's help.
I'm Really digging the sb25/bb combo. I think I'm sold on that.
Fantastic! Now I just need to convince my wife that we really really need to spend $500 on a new loud thing that she won't understand or appreciate. Piece of cake!

...I'm sick of every wretched sound guy at every club in RI telling me to turn down my stage volume to the point that it sounds bad... Back in August when we played our CD release show, the sound guy actually told me to turn up at first I was like then I was ;D I sounded like Thor the god of thunder on my side of the stage...almost brought a tear to my eye...being told to turn up never happens

With Splawn speakers you can't lose. Yes, Windsen I run 2 SBs in a combo with my QR, sounds great. I just got a pair of BBs and am installing them this weekend, gonna run 1 of ea. in a combo and 2x12, I will report my impressions.
The Splawn cab is a good choice, but you can save a couple $100 ordering the speakers from Scott and finding a used 2x12; I have had good luck in that area with craigslist and fleabay (we should call it guv'nahbay now!). Maybe that will help with your "wife problem"?
Good luck!

Get the 4x12! The difference in volume between a 2x12 and 4x12 isn't very drastic but the sound quality and fullness is.

Yeah but you know what else is drastic? The enormous pain in my ass I get having to lug a 4x12 around all the damn time.

I use a Splawn 212 for a few years and it was badazz! Gov & Manowar loaded. I really like the Gov/Mano combo. I wish I could trade someone 4 SBs for Gov/mano Xs.

Cool! I'll have my Nitro with a sb loaded 4x12 tomorrow. We'll have to compare notes.

Anybody order a cab separate from their head? About how long did it take them to build and ship the cab?

I got my cab in about 2 weeks. Give them a call and they will let you know what the turn around time is : )
