Hello All, Just ordered the QR 100 and can't wait to get it ;D ;D. Right now I have the JVM410 head and am quite pleased with it and its flexibilities, especially the midi function which I am able to control the channel switching via my GT-10. There is also a connection/function to amp channel switch which I am sure should work with the QR. If not, I have a RJM amp Gizmo which should be sufficient if need be. Being that I ran this setup using the 4-cable setup using the loop, I am reading to do other wise to utilize the the volume control in the loop. Anyways from all the clips I hear of this monster, I have a feeling the JVM will be hitting the ebay way! Tone chasing as always, Axeman

I tried out the JVM 410 several times before I ordered my QR and while it was a nice sounding amp( I actually took the money to buy it with me several times and ended up walking out of the store w/out it) and is no slouch in my opinion it does not compare in tone or anywhere near in build quality with the splawn amps.If you play classic rock or blues the JVM would probably be a good choice as it has more sag and sparkle where as sonically the QR is way more muscular and tight.

I own a JVM410h and I'm selling it if anyone wants it The JVM is ok but I don't want to play an ok amp. Splawn QR in every way blows away the JVM. Honestly the JVM can't touch the QR. It does have more voice-ings and options but when it comes down to it I generally play on one or two of the gears anyway. Too many options gets confusing and takes away from really exploring the tonality of the amp. Can't wait to dump it and get a new QR. Which I have heard has more sag then previous models But i like the tightness of the QR...makes me a better player!

Anyways from all the clips I hear of this monster, I have a feeling the JVM will be hitting the ebay way! Tone chasing as always, Axeman My rig is a Splawn (a PM and an SR) and a GT-10 and I love it! I think you'll be very happy. I have been using my GT-10 in the 4-cable method and utilize the Amp Ctl to operate the Solo Boost function on the Splawn (the footswitch A input on the amp). I could use it for the channel switching, but I never need the clean channel (that would be footswtich B input on the amp). I run my volume pedal on the GT-10 at 50% for all patches (my Splawn doesn't have the loop volume knob on the back). It doesn't impact the amp volume that much, but it does make the volume knob less sensitive and does not impact the tone. I used to regularly gig with this rig and it was a snap to set up, was very flexible, ran like a top, and I got tons of tone compliments. I snaked together all the cables which helps too. I really REALLY like this set up with the GT-10! I will never get individual FX pedals, or buy an amp that doesn't support a solo boost or have a series loop. For me, it would only add more complexity and cost, while decreasing functionality -- and I can't imagine getting a better sound!

Ja,
the Quickrod has a better tone and is quieter than the JVM. I had a JVM until last Nov. Lots of choices, but mediocre sounding without new tubes and OT. I am not sure if the most distorted amp, but its def. top 5.
Have fun!

This is insane man, I've had a JVM for 2 years. I've always LOVED it. But hated the noise, and the fact that it had no choke. My JVM was modded, it was my baby, especially with Mullard El34's. I thought I'd never get rid of her. I loved that amp. I plugged into a Splawn quickrod, played ONE NOTE> Went home, sold my JVM instantly to guitar center.
Moral of the story. The quick rod kicks the living jewels out of the JVM in EVERY SINGLE WAY. It's quieter, has a better mid bite.
I'm actually tempted to call Marshall and let them know that they should follow Scotts route. Because he does a better Marshall then Marshall. lol

I just got the deal of the day, I picked up a Quick Rod used for $900, it's only a couple months old. The best sounding amp I've ever had! Can't wait to gig with it live!

I haven't read anything about that. Did Scott makes some changes to the new QRs to give more sag? Yes there is a thread about it somewhere on here. It is very subtle but makes you get that extra bit of nice smooth attack. I love my QR!! However, I am thinking of getting a Pro Stock because I just don't use the clean channel EVER.
