i've got a full stack with the old Gov/MOW mix.
that mix is fine with some amps, but too cutting with others.
trying to decide wether to replace everything with old school greenbacks, or more likely just replace the MOW's.
have heard of somebody who replace the MOW, with SB's and then missed the MOW.
i've got Small Blocks, V30's, 75's, chinese Greenbacks i could mix.
if i go old school it would be Weber and/or Scumback, and the Governors would come out also.
so what would you'll try?
normally i'd keep swapping untill i got it right, but i'm tired of soldering.

I'm not sure what to suggest (I dumped both the Gov and the MoW when they were too harsh) but I wanted to point out that the Small Blocks and the 75s will be 5dB quieter than the Govs, which will have an effect on how much they contribute to the sound. Eminence makes some loud damn speakers. (Also: quick disconnects are the best when it comes to swapping speakers. You can still solder your final choice if you want to be hardcore.)

I will begin with my usual V30s suck, and you will not regret purchasing Scumbacks. Be sure to check out Windsen's speaker clips! We just threw my friends g12H30s (chinese) into a cab with g12GT75s (british) in an X pattern, came out nice. A little bassy for the Splawn straight cab, but great in the Marshall 1960A.
Apparently you have multiple amps? I had a Scumback H75 and G12T75 in a JCM800 combo, was the schiznit. took the icy brittleness away. 4 G12H30s were sweet with a JVM410, gave the distortion a smoother and more natural vibe.
Thanks for the tip on the Eminences Ayton! I didn't think much of them from Windsen's clips, but I suppose they would give me a few tenths advantage in the Volume Indy 500 of my heavy metal band.
If you want tight bass, the 75's are it, for lovely midrange its the Greenbacks and Scumbacks (my fave!) and I suppose Small block, for the gnarly upper mid hump its the V30. Add flavor to taste and mix! The bonus on the Scumback and Weber is you can choose your power handling to suit your want for breakup, and Scumback offers the large dustcap option which gives the high's a diff. flavor.

thanks for the replys guys, guess i spaced out checking back on this. the board moves kindda slow.
still haven't swapped anything yet. leaning towards doing v30's or 75's.
yep, multiple amps and cabs. kind of a trick to get stuff paired right.
i love the governors with high gain amps, but have more low gain amps.

Update,
slapped in a pair of Small Blocks. Berry nice! Can't wait to get some 55hz cones to with that!
