:'(Wow....I thought maybe he was gonna beat it...... A sad, sad day indeed...... "And He will raise you up on eagles' wings, bear you on the breath of dawn, make you shine like the sun, and hold you in the palm of his hand" Rest in peace, my dear old friend.....

Actually, Wendy Dio was contacted @ 11:45 pm on May 15th because someone had started a rumor about his demise on Wikipedia. At that point, she said it was false because at that time, he was in fact, still alive. He passed away at 7:45am the next morning ( 16th ). She posted today on his official site. I'm crushed......

Truly a sad day. I was fortunate enough to bump into him at a British pub in Burbank, CA about 13-14 years ago. Spent about an hour or so talking sports while having a couple beers and watching a soccer match. I didn't recognize him for several reasons. Not the least of which was the fact he was so down to earth and a super nice guy. No rock star attitude at all. After he left, the owner of the pub asked if I knew who he was. When I said no, he told me. It's something I'll always remember. He was truly gifted and a good guy to boot!

Today my heart is broken, Ronnie passed away at 7:45am 16th May. Many, many friends and family were able to say their private good-byes before he peacefully passed away. Ronnie knew how much he was loved by all. We so appreciate the love and support that you have all given us. Please give us a few days of privacy to deal with this terrible loss. Please know he loved you all and his music will live on forever. - Wendy Dio I am almost speechless. DIO was a monster vocalist and a great performer. I remember The Last In Line tour very well. Another of the greats gone

I remember the 1st time hearing the song Heaven and Hell in 1980 I knew there was something special about him. Saw him on the Mob Rules tour, what an amazing voice and talent. Holy Diver is one of my all time favorite albums....How sad, RIP Ronnie

I am actually a bit shook up by this. I was hoping he would beat the cancer even though stomach cancer survival rates are very poor. I listened to Mob Rules so much as a kid it was unreal. My friend was a guitar tech/sound guy in the Dio camp and was very good friends with RJD. I have not spoken to him yet but I am sure he is crushed.

I met RJD at Copeland sports in Reno. He was in town recording. Totally nice guy and was really cool to talk to. I don't ask many peeps for autographs but I got his. Still have it. A sad day indeed!

RJD, one of the best metal singers ever. Sad, sad day! Lewis, I believe we were at the same concert in Salisbury.
