I bought a used empty Splawn 2x12. The tag says it had Manowars installed. The Jack plate said 16 ohms but thats crossed out and had an 8 over it. There are two wires off the jack and then a pair of wires that were lying in the cab. I'm guessing that the jack wires go to one speaker and then the two wires go from that speaker to the second speaker. So two 16 0hm speakers in series would give me an 8 ohm load.correct? Just wondering because my Marshall cab has them run parallel. Anyone have their 2 x 12 open??

According to those links I have it wired parallel for an 8 ohm load.I just have my terms mixed up. Thanks! So if I'm running half power into an 8 ohm cab I should have the amp set to 4 ohms correct?

If you're running anything but a Competition, I believe that to be true. Compy owners don't have to worry about that.

Ayton, I picked up a super crappy 4x12 cabinet and loaded it with the various cast-off speakers that I went through. I keep it at the rehearsal space so I don't have to lug my 2x12 around. It doesn't sound as good as the greenbacks, but it's a touch looser than the 2x12. Not sure what that's about. It's wired series-parallel.
