Feels like this one should have been covered a lot on this board, but I am finding scattered comments about the Hybrid Slant and not exactly what I would like.
So....what is the primary tonal difference between these two? I understand they will project slightly differently, but is there something better about the Hybrid that makes the slightly lower projection vs the trad slant a good trade off? I have always used traditional slants only.
I am down to the decision of HS or TS to put my order in for a new Splawn 4x12.
Thanks!

I ordered two identical Splawn cabs, one hybrid one classic slant. I kept the hybrid. It just simply sounds better, hard to explain.

In looking at it, isn't the Hybrid just a straight baffle in a slant shaped cab for the slant "look"? In other words, wouldn't it project sound just like a straight?

Yep.......only it's tilted back slightly.

Yep.......only it's tilted back slightly. Where did you see that the hybrid is tilted back at all? The company's copy makes it sound like it projects like a straight cab but looks like a slant: "The new slant cab is our idea to combine the great looks of a traditional slant cab with the boldness and tone of our straight cab. The result is a 4-12 with the slant look with a straight baffle board. This design keeps all 4 speakers firing together which produces more punch and low end than the standard slant design. These cabs are built with high quality materials throughout. We build all our cabs in-house, which is different from a lot of other builders who sub out the woodworking. We offer all of our custom color coverings as grill cloth so you can spec the cab that is right for you."Not doubting you, I'm just not seeing where this is explicit. Thanks.

Not what I wanted to hear after just ordering a Traditional Slant yesterday I wouldn't worry about it. You already know you like slants and it's not like these amps are lacking in low end. Without being able to try them all, I think you made the right decision and went with your gut. If you want, I'll get the hybrid and we can compare.

Do your homework, Philm. Like I said, it's straight, but tilted back slightly, to project up a little as opposed to a trad straight. Call Josh, he'll tell you the same thing...........

Do my homework? I said I wasn't doubting you. This is my homework since I didn't see that fact on the site. I just didn't see where it said the baffle was tilted slightly. Thanks anyway and have a nice day.

WOW, sounds like a bunch of,, tone cork sniffing "gear page "guys.I had a hybrid . I also compared it to regular slants .Sounded the same.I hear alot about straight cabs, yes there a LITTLE better sounding ,BUT on stage! The, straight is hitting you at your knees .There hard to hear. The slant"on stage" is easy to hear yourself. The hybrid slant isn't that much of a slant.SOOOO,,,there is not one better than the other .It's all in your mind ,dig.
