I know, I know, same friggin' riffs everyone does, lol, guess that makes it easier for reference though. Plus, I was DYING to hear my new So-Cal tracked, as good an excuse as any! Just hoping I'm in the ballpark, if not, recomended tweaks are welcome! Mic Testing 1 (download) Mic Testing 2 (download) Thanks for any input! Peace

OK, thanks for the replies, especially since they're positive, lol, whew!!! I posted that at Rig Talk and got ZERO responses, good or bad, go figure, but it gave me the impression something was way off.
Yeah, gear 1, od 1, gain around 1 for the first clip. Gear 1, od 2, gain at 3 o'clock for the second, no boost pedals for either sample.
edit: Shredder, you've got good ears - it took several takes before I had a good one where that little harmonic jumped off the neck at that spot, proving the gain was borderline on not being high enough...but I liked the clarity in the chords and refused to turn the dial any more, lol, next time...
Thanks again.

Thanks again. don't let the lack of a comment on that other board make you think that there's something wrong....it tends to get slow over there... yep, thought that was first gear....that's the gear I usually hang on so I know it well...although I use alot more gain than you did for the clip..simply cause I need it...LOL.. how loud was the amp?

Its no biggie, I'm new over at that one anyway, maybe 3 months registered and prolly 15 posts so I can see nobody bothering to comment.
The volume was loud to me, 9:30 on the front knob and the loop vol nearly dimed. It might just be me, but I hear a difference that way as opposed to cranking the vol and lowering the loop vol, sounds better this way FWIW. I'd like it even louder and that wouldn't be a problem, have my mic'd cab in a treated closet and monitor at the desk, but I'm only using a 2x12 cab w/a G12H30 and CL80, so its got a point that I can't cross or it gets ugly quick.
I'm pretty happy with these tones but I'm always second guessing my ears and love to have others verify/justify (good or bad) for me...thats weak but I'm just being honest.

Nice recordings. I'm still working on mic placement, levels, etc with my setup. So far, it's been tough for me to recreate on tape (disc) what I hear live. I'm using an SM 57 on each cabinet. One on the far right bottom and the other on the far left bottom. Trying to get the true stereo effect of the ProMod and QuickRod. Will post something soon hopefully. Keep recording stuff Kabala. Cool.
