well how do they achieve status? by having great tone id say. status doesnt just get awarded to anyone, they have to earn it. and there are other amp companies that make expensive amps, they must have a reason. id say its mostly due to the cost of the parts they use. (bogner, diezel, SOLDANO) i know this is the case with soldano. the others not sure.
i will keep my eyes open for a nitro i believe or maybe a quickrod. i dont wana do another 3 month wait

here's my take on it..chances are if you're into amps made by VHT or Mesa, you're really not going to dig a Splawn, no matter which one you get.... FWIW, amps like bogner and diezels cost so much over here because they're made overseas...it's like buying a mesa in europe..they cost twice as much..... Anywho, I think buying a nitro or a QR will be a waste of your time..and I mean no offense....you dig the soldano, fryette (vht, whatever..lol) and the mesa.....my money's on you not digging anything scott makes..and that's ok alot of the reason why people buy these things then flipping them is because they think they're something they're not I also think the 'any really good amp should sound good through any set of speakers'..also not true....plug a diezel into some peavy sheffields and get back to me anywho..good luck with the soldano!

alot of the reason why people buy these things then flipping them is because they think they're something they're not youre right about that. the main reason i bought the competition is i thought it was gonna be just like a dimmed vintage marshall plexi. now that i know thats not the case, the next spalwn i buy will be with different expectations. the nitro is said to have huge bottom end and low mids, i like the sound of that....

:)Truer words were never spoken Matt....I know..I've been playing plexis for a LONG time. If you play well, you're rewarded in spades.....if you suck or are having a bad night, run and hide...lol

I used to use mine with a PPI mast vol and a SansAmp GT-2. It was a real hoot. I just decided to take a chance on the Splawn,( thanks to you) and it worked out beautifully. We've gotta get those vids back up on the website!

Man do you really think if something is more expensive it must be for a reason and it must be better? That's so naive... A sales person's wet dream.
