Hey All,
I am attempting to use my promod for a dirty amp and a vox ac-30 for my clean. The issue I am coming up against is that when I plug both amps into my power conditioner, a horrible hum develops in the both amps. When I power off the splawn, the hum still persists in the vox. When I unplug the splawn, the hum in the vox ceases.
Does some sort of device exist that will allow me to plug both amps into the same power conditioner? Or is the only reasonable approach to plug into different power sources (not ideal for gigs).
I have tried to lift the ground in different permutations on each amp to no success.
Thanks, Andy

I feel like I have read about hum problems with dual amp setups and that indeed lifting ground was the answer. Sorry to be vague, I just think it came up before.

You can use an EBtech Hum X (I have one) to lift the ground. What kind of switcher are you using? That could be the culprit. There should be no reason to plug into a different power source for each amp as long as one of them are ground lifted.

I feel like I have read about hum problems with dual amp setups and that indeed lifting ground was the answer. Sorry to be vague, I just think it came up before. Me too. I've heard/read about a couple similar noise issues with dual amps. I think I remember seeing something about one of the internal components on older Splawns being one possible issue. I don't remember exactly what component, but it's been update/replaced on newer amps. Also, if you're plugging any wall warts into your conditioner, try unplugging those. Lastly, if you're willing to spend a little $$, try a Decimator Pro Rack G. It offers noise reduction for both the F/X loop (preamp) and pedal board. In addition, it gives you the ability to ground lift either source. If you search the forum you might be able to find other posts with helpful info. Good luck!

you need a ground lift for sure.
i use a radial eng AB/Y whenever i run two amps (PM and Orange), it has three switches on there (including a lift), and a combination of those switches always takes care of the excess hum for me.

Ebtech Hum Eliminator- passive ground lift box. You can get them for under $40 and they will most definitely do the trick. i had the same problems running piezo guitars.

get a radial engineering big shot amp switcher.
i run a Nitro and Pro Mod in stereo for the brootz, and flip the lift switch and you are good to go. it also has two other switches that help quiet them down.
