Does anyone even play these anymore with the QR's being so popular? Not many posts about these. I have an 05 but i was thinking of getting a new one to have the gear selector and loop level adjustments.

:)Yeah Scream.....I have an '07 ProStock which is a ProMod with a single channel(KT-88's). It cleans up real nice if you just gear down and roll your vol back a bit. I love my amp, it totally smokes, and I don't need no stinkin' clean channel! ;D

I have a QuickRod and a ProMod. Love them both but I have to admit, with the KT-88's, the ProMod is a bit more to my liking for bottom end and tightness. Just slightly different from the QuickRod in my opinion. I'm running them both in stereo.

The ProMod I have is currently equipped with GT 6550 power tubes and jj ecc83's in the pre. I absolutely love the dirty tone but honestly its pretty much a single channel amp and depending where the pre-gain is set kinda sets where the clean comes in. Even with the guitar volume its still not really clean. I don't really use the clean channel much for shows but at home i really like to play alot of clean stuff. I really cant make up my mind if i should just sell this one and get a new one or not. Maybe i should just save my pennies and have them both! HaHa

Well as you already know from the other thread I am a Pro Mod user. I traded my Rivera KHR 100 for it about 3 years ago and haven’t looked back since. The QR’s are definitely the most popular Splawn amps. I have played one of quite a few occasions and I ended up just sticking with my PM. It has a tighter bottom end and smoother top end which is what I like. Honestly though, there isn’t too much of a difference between both.
I have thought about getting an updated version for the separate clean preamp tube but some say the older ones sound more aggressive. I fear that I would sell my amp that I am totally in love with and get something that would leave me slightly regretful. I am now considering getting a JC-120 to run on stage for my cleans.
Anyway, welcome to the elite PM club!
BTW, mine has Tung-Sol 6550's and preamp tubes. Best ones I have used yet.

I'm an active ProMod amp user. Mine is an '07 with the newer clean channel. I also owned a late Model QR and a modded Marshall 1987x reissue head. While all of them sounded great, in the end I preferred the ProMod and sold the others. By comparison, I find the ProMod to be slightly tighter and more articulate. I also owned some old Marshall JMP amps and I similarly preferred the sound of the 6550 heads to the EL34 heads. I find PM vs QR differences to be extremely subtle and, when the amps are EQ'd a certain way, you can't tell them apart.
I still own a Competition with KT77s (an EL34 type tube) which is currently for sale. Great amp, but I really want 2 channels.
I actively gig with the PM and consistently get compliments on my tone from other players who come out to see the band.

I have an early ProMod with the Mercury Mags and no gears. I love it so much that I haven't even thought about getting an updated model. I think it has plenty of cleans for what I need and the aggression in this amp is unmatched IMO. The only thing I have thought about changing are the EH KT88's that are in it. I recently started using a 2x12 cab loaded with Lead 80's and it's like having a new amp! It blows away most bands that I play with that are using 100 watt heads and 4x12 cabs. When people see me setting my rig up at a show I always hear "wow, this is gonna be good" or "man! that amp was LOUD!!". I used a volume pedal that I got from Dweezil Zappa (strangely enough) for a while but then started bypassing the loop and using my guitar's volume knob to tame the beast.
