Hi, I'm thinking about ordering a Competition, and I'm trying to decide between the EL34's and KT88's. Does anybody know if the tube types are the only difference between those two choices, or are other componenents (transformers, etc.) different as well? Thanks!

I think one little resistor somewhere is all that's different, right boys?

splawnfans.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=nitro&action=display&thread=4736 I believe that is correct. All that the different resistor does is to allow more electricity to the tubes. EL34s bias @ around 32ma where as the KT88s are @ about 52ma. I did a little research yesterday and found that el34s biased @ 70% plate dissipation produce about 25w per tube(2= 50w--4=100w). KT88s biased the same(70%) put out 35w per tube (2=70w--4=140w).
