P.S still working on it just a bit Are you really running your Master Volume at the (2:00) two o'clock position? Are you playing at an arena? I can put my Master Volume somewhere between 9:00 & 10:00 and I still need to attenuate the volume some with the loop Master control. Your power tubes are probably not long for this world if you run your Master at 2:00 all of the time. I hope you are using HEARING protection too LOL.

I thought you sold up? I move my settings around depending on what I want to hear that day. I do know that the Treble-on-zero thing never works for me, though now and again I try it to see if I'm 'getting it' yet. Saying that, you run the Presence pegged and Treble at 2 o'clock, wowser, you like some top end! I find that with the right speakers and pickups, almost every setting sounds good.

Nah I didnt sell my Comp. I love it now. I can't belive I was going to sell it. As far as the Presence I lowered it to about 2:00 and the Treble at about 2:00 also.

I was playing around yesterday looking for a tone and ended up with the bass nearly off. Gave me a nice edgy crunch on rhythm, but also trimmed some fat away from lead stuff. Made 3rd Gear OD1 sound more modded Plexi than usual. Presence zeroed to keep it warm at the same time. Cool tone. I should mic it so it can be heard better than through the webcam. Glad you wised up and kept the Comp. There seems to be a bit of a post-purchase hump to the Splawn amps, where if people persevere they are rewarded.

I should spend more time experimenting with different settings. I usually just plug in and play. I kind of based my main settings off where you had things dialed in on your Splawn Day One video. I have added more treble and presence since I have been using the JJEL34's.

Oh yeah, the JJ power tubes are kind of warm are they? Might need to try 'em.
I think, though it's hard from just clips, that the Comp is always brighter than the QR, which probably accounts for some Pres/Treble differences too.

The JJ's will definitely cause you turn the treble and presence up a bit. I have been really digging them. Yngwie is using them so I think they would really work for your style.

That's interesting; the Comp could use a little softening/darkening. How much to have you come out here and bias them up? Because I still don't want to blow my arms off.

sounds very good man. Nice playing also. Cheers, noah. My clock-face settings for that video are, left to right, starting with Presence: 7–8–10–1–9.5–9.5–2.5 on 3rd Gear, OD1. I noted them because I really like the tone I'm getting like that. As is often the case, those settings look weird on the controls, but we all know you gotta ignore that on Planet Splawn. When I struck that setting I played for hours non-stop, got blisters under my old calluses. ;D

I never even thought about biasing an amp prior to getting my Splawn. The Weber Bias Rite is actually pretty simple to use. The Compu Bias might even be more accurate. My Weber reads about 2 milliamps low. The JJ EL34's will probably not soften things up any, but they will darken the amp some. The note definition will also be improved with the JJ's IMHO.
