hey y'all , i recently took delivery of a nitro , which i liked a lot , but i sent it back today . theres too much gain in that amp for me - the max gain i would use is around 8 o'clock on the gain knob - so i'm wondering how the pro stock might compare ?
i like the bass/bottom end of the nitro a lot - how would the pro stock compare on a scale of 1 - 10 ( nitro being 10 ) ?
the only dealer here in the UK is 300 miles away , so its not an easy option for me to go up there to try them ( plus they only have the nitro and quick rod in stock at present) .
all opinions greatly appreciated...............

Go with the Quick Rod. It will allow a much smoother transition between gain levels. Much more versatile. I struggled with the same decision for a while and settled on the Quick Rod which will Ship out the last week of July. Check out the link below. It is Scott Splawn Demonstrating a few of the amps. video.google.com/googleplayer.swf?docId=-7752531797335533212&hl=en

Howdy chap, where are you based in the UK? I'm based in Southern England and have a QR and a Nitro. I'd be happy to let you try the QR, which can run low gain no problem.

thanks mr.religion - i'll check out the vids . i live in cambridge , so i'm a way from you paul - but thanks anyway ! No problem, just thought I'd see if I could lend a hand. It sounds to me like you need a Super Stock. It's a 100 watt, 2 channel head but has less gain than the rest of the Splawn range. I believe you could probably get similar gain levels using the QR's first gear, but this amp is made specifically for lower gain requirements. The details are a little further down this page: www.splawnguitars.com/amps08.htm
