hey y'all , i recently took delivery of a nitro , which i liked a lot , but i sent it back today . theres too much gain in that amp for me - the max gain i would use is around 8 o'clock on the gain knob - so i'm wondering how the pro stock might compare ?
i like the bass/bottom end of the nitro a lot - how would the pro stock compare on a scale of 1 - 10 ( nitro being 10 ) ?
the only dealer here in the UK is 300 miles away , so its not an easy option for me to go up there to try them ( plus they only have the nitro and quick rod in stock at present) .
all opinions greatly appreciated...............

What style of music are you playing? If you aren't looking for a high gain amp a pro stock has less gain than a nitro or quickrod. I haven't heard a pro stock, but I'm sure it rips just like all the other Splawns though.

I'm sorry I was thinking about the Super Stock having less gain. If you are running a V4 and the Nitro had too much gain I'm puzzled. As far as bottom end the Nitro spanks anything out there as far as tightness and sounding huge. If you want a more versatile amp with gears get a Quick Rod. The bottom isn't quite a big as a Nitro, but it is bigger than most amps out there.

I have a Superstock that I'm considering selling. Excellent cleans up to AC/DC style crunch. I have a Nitro on order. The Superstock does have a big bottom end, I'm just looking for more gain.

Superstock is black with gold trim w/ gold face plate and knobs. Marshall plexi style. EL34 Mullard tubes w/Electro Harmonix 12AX7 preamp tubes. I also have a set of 4 brand new TungSol preamp tubes that I just ordered from Splawn, though there is nothing wrong with the "EH" tubes. The tolex is a "9.5" on a "10" scale. Almost perfect. From the front it looks pristine, on the back, if you run your fingers on the edge you might find a couple rough spots on the edges that are smaller than a milimeter....very difficult to see. I am not the original owner, and I have never played it outside my home or in a band setting. This amp is very loud and it needs to be turned up to get a good crunch tone (AC/DC), or use an attenuator. The cleans are great. This amp low end is huge...more bass than my Engl Savage 120. The thing I like about Engl is you get good distortion at low volumes. I am looking for $1,150 plus shipping. I would ship double boxed and the outside box dimensions are 42x16x18 inches, the approx. weight is 62 lbs.
