Does anyone know what has become of Texas guitarist Billy White? He played Lead guitar opposite of John Norum on Don Dokkens Up From The Ashes CD. Awesome Player, the kind of guy that could build a solo until it just exploded. He also played in a band called Watchtower before that. I hit dead ends everywhere I search. Thank you.

I have a CD he did post Don Dokken Band somewhere. It's Texas-style Blues, which seems fitting.
Up From the Ashes — great album too by the way. For some reason, that's an album that doesn't get mentioned often and it should. Great playing, great tone, great songs.
I purchased the Japanese tablature book for it a few years ago. Definitely worth it.

No, definitely not. Billy White Acre was managed for a time in the mid 1990s by Jim Pitulski, former Dream Theater manager, whom I know. I have a couple of Bill White Acre cassettes (remember those?) in a box in the garage. Not the same guy.

Yes Billy White was in Watchtower before Ron Jarzombek. I thought about contacting one of the Pro Level musicians who would know but I don't want to come off insensitive in case something dreadful has happened to him. It's like he has fallen off of the face of the earth. Nothing on Wikipedia either.

Thanks SBK!! That would be the guy. The few recordings he made influenced my solo technique to a great degree. His solo's where like separate melodies within a song. Thanks again.

That 1st Billy White Trio EP is killer. It isn't hard rock at all but kind of dark, gritty blues rock. For some reason I really dug it. I also saw that Grooveyard records has a new CD by the Billy WHite Trio which I am going to look into: www.grooveyardrecords.com/billywhiteillusionation.html

I knew Billy White as teenagers in Austin, Texas. He became my guitar teacher while he was in Watchtower in 1985. We did many shows with WatchTower at the Ritz Theater in Austin. He left WatchTower & joined Don Dokken. He wrote a lot of "Up From The Ashes" then toured with Don Dokken. He also produced music for awhile in New York after that. Later, he came back to Austin, Tx and began bands such as 6 is 9 & the "Billy White Trio". I still keep in touch with him and now he has a act called "The Heart Is Awake", which is in the ambient music genre. He is a practicing Buddhist that communicates with the Dali Llama. He has sites on Facebook if you want to connect.
