i've had my pro mod for about 3 years, and i noticed some noticeable noise when the amp was on, and my guitar volume was all the way down. i replaced the pre-amp tubes, and the noise was drastically reduced.
however, i notice when i use the 3rd gear, a decent amount of noise is introduced. is this normal?

Yeah, my 3rd gear is pretty noist wit hthe gain above noon, which is probably why I don't use that mode much.

Is it the actual amp that is noisey? Nothing that can be cleared up with a noise gate?

Yeah the amp is pretty noisey in 3rd gear, though I think gear 2 has enough gain and sounds better with no noise.

3rd gear is sort of noisy...but not to the point of not being usable.
a noise gate would definitely clear it up.
