I've played numerous herberts and V4H's in our local boutique store and our rythm guitar player used to play a 100 watt einstein. Very VERY different animals than the splawn. The nitro has a much more full, fat tone that is much more distinguished in a full live mix. I have yet to play an amp that has the dominating stage presence that the nitro has. None. Perhaps a SLO but it would take an incredibly loud AND clean amp to dethrone it. That being said, nothing can do what a diezel can do. I think the herbert is their best amp but it's hard to get a good low gain tone out of it. It's a very dry high fi sound they have... about polar opposite from the splawns. There's just something that's empty with their tone... like there's no mojo in it at all. If you like this www.youtube.com/watch?v=LztorP3LMyUThen the Herbert is for you. But as Kirk said, if you're using it live, it can get over compressed and lost in a mix. For recording, it's great but then again, so is the Nitro... and the nitro will roar like an animal on stage.
