Only if you took off his hands and sewed them on to your wrists. LOL!! All joking aside Saraceno's tone is high gain marshall so the Competition can nail that and more.

Actually i've read Saraceno used a Mesa Mark 2 or something in his first two albums, and it really does sound like he used mesa, and the amp which his dad made for him in the third album, which has a kinda unique sound. The Comp is more aggressive than these amps but with Triode mode (25 watts) it actually sounds closer to a mesa.

Hello, Anybody have any idea if this amp can cop his original tones ? Thanks, JK It's weird this subject has just come up here, because over the last couple of months I've been watching old Saraceno videos, specifically where he's playing his Dirty Boy amps live, and I feel that of all famous guitar players that tone is closest to what I'm getting out of my Competition. This is a good thing, because Saraceno's tone from those amps is up in my top two or three of all time. It has that same 'notched' mids quality, similar kind of super-excited overtones, and that dynamic, toneful grip on the notes. The clear definition. Speakers and pickups (and fingers!) will obviously play a part. I'd stick to Celestions and avoid super high output pickups. But yeah. The Competition sounds a lot like mid-Nineties Saraceno to me. This is a good example; the way it cuts and projects, I would believe it was a Comp:

I disagree ayton, the Dirty Boy doesn't sound like the Comp to me, I have his third album and have listened to it a lot of times plus the youtube vids, and it sounds looser, spongier with some fizz, and it doesn't have the splawn's laser beam mids. BTW- Blues' live playing is boring, all of his improvising consists of 2 licks... Really puts to shame his playing on the records which I love.

Thanks for the comments. I love the guy's instrumentals and wondered before how many guitar tracks were one shot inspirations or an amalgamation of dozens of punch in/outs for every lick and nuance.

By chance I spotted THIS today. A nice find for the Saraceno fan with some cash to blow.

By chance I spotted THIS today. A nice find for the Saraceno fan with some cash to blow. I would sell my soul for that guitar, but unfortunately with the exchange rate I'd only get 53 Aussie dollars..For shame. It is beautiful mind. I might sell mine if that's the money they go for..

I was going to page you to the thread if you didn't see this, Paul. Knew it'd be your bag.
I'd still like to get a TV-20 and put some real pickups in it. The non-plaid ones go for beater money. Love the body shape.

Well I have this prototype, which isn't plaid but was given away in GFTPM and is pictured in the mans hands. He even said to me that it was his, via email of course. All Valleys Arts hardware with oddly a seth lover and a jb from new. Birdseye maple neck is terribly finished mind you.

That sh!t is hot, son. Presumably a little rubbing alcohol would take care of those unfortunate bits that say Poison. ;D What body wood do these tend to be made from? You probably don't know, given how much you read about a Les Paul before you buy it. "Ooh yeah, mine's got no finish, it's wicked yeah."

This guitar weighs an absolute ton and is a litte worn(proper relic'd). It really seems like a very early draft, as the body contours are really rather rough and the neck is a huge 'c' shape. She lives in the cupboard and I think I might hang her on the wall as if I were in Hard rock. I'll go and have a look, see how it looks these days.
