Hello, I have a 59 RI Splawn Modded Marshall which I have been playing out for a while now. My question..it has the 2 channels and solo boost. On the rhythm channel with the guitar vol. backed off..( I play RI Paul's) the amp sounds a little brittle or harsh, for lack of a better word kinda Solid Stateish or like Digital distortion..Not Pleasant or smooth. could it be tubes. Have JJ's in Pre and Fake Mullards in power. I play it loud with a Quadraverb in the loop. Thanks

Maybe need to give that a try, but the stage Volume is way louder then my practice volume cause I live in a condo. Using the Q-verb in the loop, the Master might be around 10-11O'Clock and pre about half way on the amp. Theres a good -6db signal into the verb and output is around 10-11O'Clock. What that tells you...I don't know. But I think that should be enough vol for the loop to catch up from what i have read with the weird circuitry.

I have a quadraverb and I quit useing it cause its a tone sucker . Take aytons advice and try in without the verb ..

The quadrverb, is and has always been, CRAP. Actually CRAP squared. Loose that thing.

Wow Sonic tell us what you really feel..LOL. Guess I 'm just lazy and old school, so what is good. I run it very very dry, I'm not a POD player with a bunch of process sh!t running. Maybe a little delay and reverb, and I mean a little. Hell I still use a Rock-Man EQ for the solo boost in the loop too, what do you think of that. LOL I think thats a killer EQ. Guess I haven't shopped around cause If it ain't broke don't fix it....yeah right. Just can't see dumping a bunch of coin on effects that I don't use, just my opinion. I even bought the Quadraverb brand new and it's been 100% trouble free. sh!t I still have the Rockman Distortion Sustainer, Chorus Delay and 2 EQ's I bought brand new..yeah I'm old...talk about the Boston sound, well for that matter the Joe Satriani sound....puke.

I got a gig on Pattys Day...maybe I'll unplug the Verb in the rack and see what happens.

OK played the gig but didn't disconnect the verb, did some readjustments...just the same reaction from everyone else..Toooo Dam Loud. Here is the web site with older stuff on it and recorded with a video recorder. I play lead threw the Marshall Splawn and the other guitarist plays a pod threw a 900.
