Update.... dumped my Boss NS2 and put an ISP Decimator in the loop. I left the RC booster on at all times ( clean channel also) and then I would kick on the OCD for leads and it was a really great sound for me. I did not use the OCD much but when I did It was great with the RC.

if you want to try flying dragon products just go to their website and sign up for the tourbox. They send a pedal around top all of the people that sign up to give it a sort of road test. You can keep it for a week, then you have to send it on to the next guy/girl. There is a pedal on it's way to my house as we speak. btw, I finally got my nitro. Wit my clean boost cooking the first pre tube i have the gain set at 9 oclock. Gives me plenty of room to add overdrive. I tried a fulltone bassdrive with it. Really crunchy sounding! You might be sending it to me.I just got an email from Steve Miller from Lizard Leg saying that I was next..LOL...

Cool sbk ! I just signed up so it will be a few weeks before the tourbox arrives. The Guitar World demo looks awesome.

That Flying dragon pedal rules! I use it on my full band and acoustic gigs. It's perfect!

Ok, here's my 2 cents on the flying dragon+nitro. I disagree with tj. In my rig, my tone remained unaffected up until I got the volume past midnight. After that the pedal really started to fatten up the sound and added a little perceived bottom end. This pedal sounds great, but I'm not sure it can really be called a real clean boost. it is to a certain point i guess.

My Rc booster does the same thing. turn up the gain enough and you will get some grit. I am not sure how the Flying Dragon will compare to the RC which is why I signed up for the demo pedal.

All I'm using mine for with the Splawn is a volume boost of my signal path. This pedal (depending how you run it) brings up the overall volume of your tone. It can add a bit of grit when run first in your chain.

Just give it a little boost?..I think that sometimes... and I am not saying this about anyone on here....people are actually looking for more of a distortion or overdrive pedal when they come across these things.I myself just like a little boost to push my Splawn slightly form time to time.My Maxon OD808 does this, but it seems to lose just a little bit of bottom end when used.I am hoping that the Flying Dragon willl do what the 808 does without losing the bottom end.If it does this, then its a winner in my book and a sure buy..

Possibly. My response was just to clarify the way I was using it. The way Calebuck was using it was not specififed. Could have been using it first in the chain or last. This could have had an effect on what it was doing to his tone. I used my Dragon last night at an acoustic gig and I switched it up between sets. Ran it last in the chain for the first set and then first in the chain for the second and third set. I liked it better running it first. Added a little bit of Umph! to my signal. I like that for an acoustic gig! I should have been more detailed in my post about how I was using the pedal. Honestly why you would want to use this pedal past noon with a Nitro or a quick rod is beyond me? I don't want to add grit to my tone when using my Splawn. The Splawn has gain for days and days. I jsut wanted to bring up the over all volume w/out losing anything from my signal. If more gain is what you're searching for than the Dragon may not be the pedal for you. Buy a tubescreamer. I think you're right SBK. People are looking for more distortion most of the times.

If you just want to bring up the overall volume level why don't you use the solo boost?

If you just want to bring up the overall volume level why don't you use the solo boost? Depending on where you run your volume that won't always work.

I used it at the end of my signal chain. With my rig I had to crank it just past noon to make it give me the crunchy sound that I wanted. If all you want is a little fatter then 9-12 oclcok does the job well. I want fat and crispy crunchy.
Amp Settings: resonance: all the wy left presence:3 oclock bass: flat middle: maxed treble:flat gain:10-11 oclock
I don't think i use my nitro like most of you guys do. The gain on my nitro is at 10-11 oclock. That's why I want more girth form the pedal. I don't like to crank the gain on any amp I play because it doesn't give you much room to play with tonewise. I find that when I keep the gain back my pedals have a much more prominent voice and have more tonal control.
I love the sound of my nitro with the gain cranked, but there is not much room to go up and it is more difficult to go down if you know what I'm saying.
