Ok.... I am sure this thread has been done to death and the resurrection but I have to ask anyway. I am an OD pedal junkie. I have tried all of the listed pedals and have listed my pros/cons with them....
1. Analogman Maxon OD9 - The pedal I like the best but want a little more saturation. I can get there with a tubescreamer but the feedback monkeys start making things ugly.
2. MXR ZW: I have always considered this pedal a $99 paperweight. However, I do like it with the Nitro. Problems is lack of tonal control. Pedal has three dials but all the settings on this pedal sound the same to me.
3. Analogman Boss SD1 : similar to MXR ZW but not enough grease for me.
4. Analogman King of Tone pedal : This pedal is still a mystery to me. I do not believe it was made for hi gain applications. Not horrible with the nitro and this pedal sounds great with the clean channel but still not enough grease for me.
5. Xotix RC Boost : Sounds great with clean channel. Really shines. Like it with the dirty channel but again.....not saturated enough.
6. Xotic BB : Like this pedal with my Mesa DR but it colors the tone a lot on the Nitro.
7. Fulltone OCD : This is the right idea but no mid hump ( which I like ) and most settings are just too saturated with this pedal. I'd like to run this at a higher voltage but my pedalboard set up does not permit for this. The pedal has enough grease...maybe too much.
8. Keeley DS1 : This pedal is awful with most anything I have tried it with. Forget about it.
9. Bad Monkey : Love this pedal. Damn battery wires ripped off though and I have not bothered to fix it yet. I have always loved this pedal.
10. Analogman YJM : neat pedal but if you are not shredding it just does not have an overall great effect on the tone.
In summary.... I like tubescreamers the most for the mid hump. Looking for a mid hump with usable gain.
Sorry for the long thread. What is everybody else using ?

I have tried a few different boosts with my Nitro also. List includes:
Boss SD-1 Keely modded Boss SD-1 Ibanez TS10 Keely modded TS10 Maxon OD808 Keely modded OD808 CMATMODS Signa Drive CMATMODS Tube Slammer Xotic BB Preamp Fulltone OCD V.4
My favorites right now are the Xotic and the Fulltone. They both add a nice amount of saturation but most importantly, they tighten the low end up dramatically. The Xotic does color the tone a bit but in a good way. The Fulltone does seem to make note jump out a little more which is really cool. I agree that TS pedals do sound really good with the Nitro due to the slight mid hump.
I also think the biggest improvement that you can make to the Nitro is KT88's (Ruby's preferably). They sound huge, add some saturation and give you better lows.

+1 for the monte allums mods. I have a monte allums modded ts-9 and it is so creamy. The tri-gain switch gives you so much more versatility than the stock ts-9. Not to mention it sounds so much more transparent after the mod. The stock ts-9 has a crappy chip, changing the chip alone makes a world of difference.
I also use a monte allums modded rat for more of a fuzzy-gain lead tone. The harmonics on this thing stomp any modded ts-9. I was amazed. Again, has the tri-gain switch to give a few gain structures to choose from.

Maxon OD808 as a clean boost is great, but the Build Your won Clone screamer is awesome. No pedal out there(IMO) will compare with the sound, features, price, and durability as the BYOC.They also have a new overdrive thats definately worth checking out..All of their stuff can be bought pre-built as well for a little extra. All true-bypass too...

Although I'm a QR user, I couldn't help but look at this thread. I have a old TS9 (early 80's) that I've used forever but came across a new reissue real cheap, bought a mod kit on ebay from a guy in AZ and it sounds terrific! It consisted of several resistor and cap changes and added a cradle to change chips. It came with JRC4558D and RC4556P. It was real easy and cheap. I have about $60 invested in the whole pedal. The guy's store was tube screamer heaven if I recall correctly.

I have been experimenting for the last few months and gigged with different pedals and I keep coming back to the Maxon and now the Analogman KOT. I like the KOT because it sounds great on a clean and a dirty channel so I can usually just leave it on all night. I will probably change my mind in a week.... but for now the KOT is actually working out for me much to my surprise.

Did you get to try the Bad Monkey out with the Nitro? It's the only boost I have atm, would be interesting to see how a 40 dollar OD works with a 2000 dollar amp

I have a Bad Monkey. it is a great budget pedal but I truly can tell a big difference when I use the Maxon over the Bad Monkey.
Now I am gassing for an Eden Austin Overdrive.....

I killed my DS-1 trying to do that mod. To be fair it was the first time I ever worked on a pedal and had very little experience with a solder gun. Now I have built my own pedals, installed pick-ups, electronics, etc.

Why not just use the gain knob? I use an RC Boost with my Pro Mod because it doesn't color the tone much at all. I use it as a clean boost to my already distorted tone and it adds just enough saturation for leads. I have tried a TS-9, Jekyll and Hyde, Lovepedal Mojo Drive, and DS-1 and didn't like any of them.

First off, i don't have my nitro yet. He said it will be a few more weeks because of the holidays.
I use my overdrives(rat and ts-9) mainly as clean boosts but may give it a little gain or play with the tone knob to give me the color i'm looking for.
I'm not the typical splawn guy here, otherwords I can't shred like you guys. I'd love too, but I can't. I'm a blues player basically. I love the high gain splawn sound but I will likely keep the gain under midnight. We'll see.

Why would anyone need more gain or saturation with the Nitro?
