Is there anyone fairly close to me that i could possibly hear, maybe play a nitro. I visited a dealer and played the quick rod. I love the tone and I am ready to make a purchase. I'm pretty sure I want the nitro for a little more bottom if needed but cannot find one.
I spoke to Josh at Splawn (Super Nice Guy!) He suggested I give this a shot.
I am 46 years old and have been playing longer than i care to mention...lol Currently in a gig-ing band. I love what i'm hearing of all the clips and what i experienced in playing the QR. Just would love to hear a Nitro before I drop the bucks. I'm in O'fallon Mo. 63366
Thanks in Advance! Tony

Yeah, Thats pretty far away. Thanks for the reply though. What kind of music do you play, and are you happy with your nitro??

I'm not close, but what kind of music do you play? Originals or covers? If you are doing more modern rock or metal then a Nitro is the best choice. If you do 80's to current rock/metal then I would go with a Quick rod or Pro mod. The Nitro will handle it, but is a modern voiced amp and really likes drop tunings.

I don't have a Nitro, but i DO have a QR. I live in Hannibal, MO, which is a little over an hour away from Ofallon. BTW, there's a River City Music in Washington MO that may have a QR as well. If you play 80's and 90's covers, the QR is the way to go.

Thanks guys for the reply's ! I went to River City Music last weekend and played through the QR (Mullard EL34'S). Incredible TONE !!! I had people coming up to see what the hell i was playing through. I brought my pedal board and my axe and this thing was just nailing the Eddie and lynch tones. I just felt I needed more bottom, perhaps a little more compression? no matter how i tweaked the eq i could not get there. I'm not knocking it at all, it still blows my Marshall dsl's tone away.I'm assuming the nitro can be dialed to immulate the QR but not the other way around??? I'm just about ready to join the Family here, just want to make sure if possible that I'm making the right $2000.00 decision. I've been a Marshall man most of my life, the core tone of the Splawns is what i think I've been chasing after. Please comment on my assumption???

I run a BBE sonic stomp with my QR. Helps give it more lows and presence. The mids can be a little overbearing without it.
a good cab is a must with the QR. Peavey cabs (JSX) just don't cut it. I have a Splawn OS2x12 that's getting some sb-25s for christmas and an oversized 4x12 with BB's and Emi V-12's. Havent tried it in a band setting yet.
BTW, Tung sol el34b's really work well with the QR. If you don't need a clean channel, look into the Super Comp. If i had the cash, i would own one...
BTW, the QR sounds much bigger on stage with the band. Small stores just don't do them any justice.
If you dig the QR but just want it a bit more modern, a Pro-Mod might suit you better. The QR hits you in the chest, the Pro-mod rattles your balls.
I haven't been to River City yet. I want to a/b my 2006 QR with a new 4 preamp tube model. I hear the older ones are a little more aggressive.
Next time i plan on taking a trip, ill contact you.

If you don't hold out for a Nitro, buy the QR, do the KT88 mod and boost it.

Did you get it with KT88's? If not, call him and have that added to the order. They take the restrictor plate off the Nitro.
