Anyone using an EQ in the loop? Or into the front of the amp?

I always use an EQ in the loop of my Mesa DR. I have not tried it yet in the Nitro as I have liked the tone am I am getting. Will experiment today though.

Cool which Eq do you have? I had an MXR 10 band I used with another amp I had, but it was really hissy and added fizz to the tone due to the volume and gain sliders. If it just had the frequency sliders it would have been great.

Put the MXR 10 band in the loop tonight and...... cannot see any reason to continue to do so. The Nitro sounds great as it is to my ears. With my DR I need toe MXR to dial out the mud that lives in the 220 range. I cannot play my DR without an EQ. The Nitro was done right the first time so I don't think I would ever need additional EQ tweaking.

Were you able to bring out more mids with the EQ? I wanted to try and get my Nitro to have the midrange bark of a quickrod and still have the low end muscle that we all know the Nitro has. I too love my Nitro's tone without an EQ, but would like to be able to tweak it a tad since I play in drop B and that adds even more bass. The Nitro in standard tuning is perfect. In drop B it needs some mids added. IMO

i find boosting with a maxon od-9 or some time of tubescreamer does a great job of adding some mid bite for my nitro.

I've been thinking about boosting and I have an SD that I have used with it. I really would prefer EQing verses boosting. I'm also working on a cosmetic modification that may or may not look sweet. i'm having issues finding the ingredients needed to complete the mod. Stay tuned........................

On the cheap the bad monkey does a pretty decent job as well.

Yep... a $50.00 bad monkey is a great investment. I like my OCD also. Only pedal I am not digging with the Nitro is my Xotic BB preamp. Honestly, I think I need to just turn my gain up a little bit and stop boosting the Nitro.
