i just started to get the chance to really get some air moving with my nitro since i am jamming again with some guys and i have noticed something weird.
i just got my nitro re tubed with the 6550s and re biased and it does not seem to have the volume it had before. i really never had it to 9:00 before the re tube but it does not seem as loud as my pro mod did at that level or as loud as this one did before the tube swap at lower volumes(7:30-8:30ish) i remember what my pro mod was like when we jammed before,i used to be at 8:00-8:30 and be plenty loud to hear it over the drums and bass and other guitarist in the room with only the vocals mic'd up. i had my nitro on 9:00 in the same situation and was about where i was before with the pro mod at lower volume level.(and as we all know splawns are touchy and a little bit of twist in the volume knob from 8:00-9:00ish goes a LOOONG way!!) so it got me to thinkin!!
i was reading in another post about a bass player complaint due to 9:00 volume on the splawn on stage and i got to tell you mine is not THAT loud at that level.could this be a bias issue?? a tube issue?? it had the kt-88s in it before but i just like the 6550s more for my taste so i swapped them.
also i see people post about running them at 10:00-12:00..on mine(again this might be mine) i hear NO difference in volume between 9:00 and 2:00 on the volume..with or without the solo boost engaged!! i tried this with my nitro and my pro mod and got no more volume hiss in the entire sweep from 9:00-2:00..at 2:00ish there is a spike and from there to full crank it is a steady gain but that is it.
any help on this would be appreciated greatly!!
