i have never flown before and it's a 13 hour drive from here. I feel if i do go, i will be going alone.
Do you guys reckon it would be cheaper to get a economical rental car or fly? Im from Hannibal, MO which is about 2 hrs north of st louis.
Well, i found that a rental car will cost me about $100 plus about $100 in gas. If i drive my own truck (2002 GMC Sonoma) it will cost about $300 in gas. At least i will have my truck paid off just before the convention.
One way flight will cost about $150.

Either way you decide (drive or fly), we just hope you come! It is a great time. If you can fly, I would...it leaves you less tired than a huge drive. Me, Vom and Dave debated driving this year, but ended up flying again.
Hope to meet you soon-

Yeah I would fly if I were you. It's cheaper and less to worry about (car accidents, breaking down, gas costs, getting too tired, etc.) Look at it this way, the odds of something bad happening are MUCh greater in a car. You would be safer flying for sure.

map out the cool guitar shops between mo and nc and make a fun trip out of it. 13 hours is nothing when you consider all the consecutive hours you stomach working or sitting online. Head down to I-64 and hit Willcutt guitars in Lexington, KY on the way.

I was talking to a friend of mine earlier today. I am considering driving since he lives in the Louisville KY area. It would break up my driving time in half, i could drive then sleep then start again. Im not completely sold on flying yet.
Big YAY is that my truck is paid off today. So if i have to spend a little more money on gas it's ok for now. I just want to make it this year...and im darn pressed to do so...

OK, round trip flight plus saturday night in the hotel is going to run $450ish. Anyone got a rental car? Or, does anyone have a plan to hook up at the charlotte airport?

Just grab a taxi from the airport and get to the hotel. From there you'll be able to jump in with whomever to get over to Scott's place.
