Nice! Looks like it is in great shape. Mine has 2 inputs and looks alot like the newer heads but does not have the gears knob. It also has the Heyboers and a separate clean channel with a mid knob on the cleans. 50/100 watt switch on the back and also the loop like the newer heads. Which version is that? With the exception of the no gears knob, clean channel being different and 2 inputs it looks like the newer version.... hmmm. I love the head so i would not even think of upgrading but it would be nice to know more about it. I'm pretty sure this is a 2nd generation head. It has gears through the footswitch, same effects loop. The only real difference is that the clean channel shares the eq and this is a 50 watter which is more than enough power and sounds super sweet when turned up.

That's a strange looking Pro Mod now that I see the picture. Yours is definitely a version before mine because of the layout of the control panel. The input is in a higher position and some knobs are layed out differently. Weird that it's 50 watts as well, maybe it was a custom thing for someone, before he made the competition.

Originally I thought it was a second gen but maybe not. The guy I bought from told me it was one of the early ones, either 2003 or 2004. The serial number is hand written in marker on the chassis. I love the fact that it's a 50 watter. it sounds fantastic! I'm going to e-mail Scott and I'm sure he will give me the year and details on it.

Mine is a 2005 model, just before the updated clean channel. Sometimes I wish I could run mine on 50 watts but I love the fullness I get out of 100 watts.

My Pro-Mod is similar but has a single input, no half-power switch, and mercury mags. It has no gears either. It's very simple and straightforward. I usually run it with the outer tubes pulled so that it operates at about 60 watts. I also run a volume pedal through the effects loop to help tame this beast. I retired a JCM-900 for this amplifier and I have been satisfied so far. This amp has seen most of the US and soon Italy/Germany

Hi All - I am new to the forum......sounds like fun. I have a 2004 50 watt Pro Mod built with EL34s. No Gears, shared EQ and one input. I love em simple like this ........and I just love this amp. I do not play metal but play pretty aggressive rock and blues. Suites me to the T. I grew up in Ireland (not Irish though) and owned mant brit amps through the years and this kills them all. This thing is hard to turn off!!! Pastelback, Welcome to the forum. There's a bunch of good guys on here that love Splawns! To me the older heads with the Merc tranny's are hard to beat in this caliber of amps. I called Splawn the other day to give me an idea of what year my Pro Mod is from. It is an '04 and was told that less than 50 were made with the MM transformers. So any Splawn with the MM transformers is gonna be a hard one to find. New or old, I have never heard a Splawn sound terrible!!

Does anyone know what the tube layout is on the old school PM?? Mine has 3 pre amp tubes. [/quote I found out. The one closest one to the power tubes is the phase inverter. The other two are for the gain stages. I changed out the v1 (JJ) for a Tung Sol. It was a nice surprise!!
