Been playing with some BB's, SB25's, and SB65's. Mixing/matching to see what's the best (for me, ymmv).
The sound man at the gig (long time friend/partner in crime) was freaking out over the SB25.
Tried a BB/25...sounded great in the room, but didn't like the BB miked up. Tried a 65/25...sounded great in the room and miked up but the 65 didn't hang in the mix with the band.
The sound man was slobbering over the tones and cutting ability of the 25. So, after some real-world use (for me, ymmv of course), it's going to be 25/25 in the 212. That's just a great speaker design!

SB25's have been recommended for 2x12's many times on the forum. Glad you liked them.
What kind of music are you playing?

SB25's have been recommended for 2x12's many times on the forum. I typically like mismatched speakers in 212 cabs to create a fuller sound - but the 2xSB25 will do nicely. With that band, 80s/90's rock - Ozzy, AC/DC, Skid Row, Poison, Nelson, Black Crowes, Pearl Jam, Jackyl, Warrant, Faith No More, Mr. Big, Van Halen, et al., and some of their original material from the 90's. Old friends of mine that recently regrouped after 10 years for fun and asked me to hop in on guitar - great guys/killer talent and just a lot of fun.

Head, yes, cab, no - eh, maybe (put a 412 up front for looks and hide the 212 behind miked up for actual tone). Those guys haven't played in a couple months and nothing is on the books in the future. Getting the urge to put that one to bed and move on...have too many other things going on...and the good bands are booking up. That one's just for schmits and giggles.

How do the SB25's compare to Emi Legend V12's?

Awesome, good to hear! My 2x12 loaded with SB25's should be here next week!
BTW, the SB65 sounds pretty good in my Rivera combo. A lot more cleaner and a little less mids but that's good because it would get muddy.

I've become a fan of the "Greenback" tones - have various cabs loaded with the SB25, Weber 1225 Alnico Pre-rola, and an English Greenback. Different flavors for different amps/music.

Ok guys, I just have to chime in and give more praise for eth SB-25's.
These speakers sound KILLER! I highly recommend them to any Splawn player!!
I used my new 2x12 with my Pro Mod last night for the first time. While I have always loved my Bogner 4x12 and it has made any head sound great, the Splawn can w/ 2-SB-25's brings out that sweet Marshall crunch of the Splawn! They also have plenty of bottom end and the top end is nice, not piercing or too smooth..just right. The V30's sounded good with my amp but the SB-25's definitely sound better.
I may have to change the speakers in my 4x12 to all SB-25's now!

Hell yeah, definitely raw! They have a very vintagey midrange that has tons of bite and growl. I sense a little brightness in the treble but only because they are new and need more time but the more I play them the better they are sounding.
