I ordered 2 Tungsol 12AX7s to try when I ordered my cab. I put them in yesterday and gave them a test run. I am impressed with how articulate they are. They also give the amp a slightly woodier sound if that makes any sense. A tad less gain than the 9th Gens I had in it, but a fuller punchier tone which I prefer. Pinch harmonics seem to be easier making it slightly more touch sensative I guess. I really like them. I have them installed in V2 &V3. Is anyone using Tung sols in all four preamp spots? I'm thinking about getting two more. Anyhow I highly recommend them for the gain stages. ;D

My Nitro had to grow on me a bit. It is a weird animal at first. I have figured it out now. I keep everything at noon on the eq. Resonance at like 7 o clock presence at 9 o clock. Gain at noon on OD1. Straight ballz in drop B. And tight as shoving a watermelon through a keyhole even though the resonance is almost off. It is a tad too tight with the resonance up pretty high and won't cover up my sloppy playing .

Okay I now have Tung Sol pres in all 4 spots. I like it A LOT. The Nitro is thicker believe it or not. Not to the point of too much bass. Thicker midrange and more bounce to the cab. The Texas heats aren't farting, crying, or yowling hehe. There is a tad less sizzle on the top end, but no gain loss that I can tell. Pinch harmonics are still as good as they were with the Shuguang 9th gens. It is still tight and maybe a little more articulate. Really balanced and clear. I'm not giving any opinions on them through my cab with G12k-100s since they are still very new and stiff. Oh yeah the "new" Splawn shirts are sweet they have the new gritty logo on front and back. Very metal! Very cool! Get one.
