ok, so I'm on harmony central..somebody is selling their soldano SLO ($2100...USED, people, USED!!!!) anywho, I was curious..as I've always heard people rave about these things...asked if he didn't like the sound.. said that he loves it...is one of the best high gainers he's ever had... and I'm like maybe this is a dumb question, but if you like it so much, why get rid of it? well, he's gassing for a diezel herbert apparently the SLO doesn't sound as good as he's trying to say it does..hehe...if it ain't broke, don't fix it! anywho, he says 'by the way, I had a QR, and the SLO smokes it..don't you want one now?' um, no..I don't think so buddy =) no amp is worth that price...especially a used amp...so I said that it's funny cause I heard people say the QR smokes the slo..HeheEHEH...then I also said that I've played a Herbert..and while they sound good, they don't sound like they're worth over four grand! I like my QR better some people just kill me...everyone has an amp that they 'love' but are always trying to pawn it off to buy something 'better'...if you're selling it, you don't love it.... hehe..smoking a quick rod...I DON'T THINK SO, jerk wad =)

Sign says: No Smoking... Yeah, that is a silly claim to make - an SLO is a completely different sounding head, made to do completely different things with. I really don't think you can compare the 2. And no, I wouldn't pay $2100 for one either. The switch from an SLO to a Diezel is a little confounding to me also, but I haven't heard a Herbert, only a VH4. The VH4 sounded extremely modern to me - to the point of sacrificing some warmth for the sake of clarity. If you're selling something, making the claim that it's the best thing you've ever heard is only going to work on a true sucker. In my experience, people have been much more responsive to true representations of what a piece of gear will do/features rather than the blanket "this is the holy grail of _________'s" statement. Along those lines, I think I want to sell my Splawn/Marshall 1960A so I can get a straight Splawn cab. I bought it to go with a Plexi that I just sold because it wasn't getting any use in the studio, and I'm not sure this cab will get much use either. Paid $700 total for the cab and it's still in new condition. Suggestions on price/how to market?

hmmm...the cab definetly looks like it's in good condition....
you could start out by entertaining offers on various message boards...show lots of pix....how old it is, how much use it's gotten...what kinda speakers are in it would help too...lol...
u may get lowballed on the boards though...it really depends...I would say sell it for no less than between 500-600..I dont' think you should take that much of a hit on it if it's in new condition just because it's used..people see that word 'used' and they try to fist you...lol...
I've sold a bunch of stuff on forums..but I had to sell my axis on ebay cause I was getting lowballed left and right...'oh, it's modded..you don't have the original pickups'..that's cause I slapped $150 worth of duncans in it...lol...

another victory for splawn, chob The Herbert is a killer amp , but at the end of the day I like a more vintage high gain tone . Splawns are great for that . Especially my modded '59
