Okay, I guess this is the wrong place to talk about modifying a Splawn. Don't get me wrong, I love the amp, I just want to know what else I can do with it. Does anyone else think it a bit odd that no one has the schematic?

Not at all odd.. This isn't some big company. Thats Scott's livelihood. If it was something he wanted to get out he could easily make it available.
I do however think its REALLY odd that anyone would want to mod these amps.

Do whatever makes you happy but I don't understand modding an amp because all you other amps are modded. You don't have a real problem with the amp or anything specific you'd like to change but it's not modded so you feel you need to?? Sorry, don't get it.

You can mod it about like any other amp, just follow the wires to the traces.. If you are familiar with tone stacks and coupling, you should have no problem. IF your looking for a quick "Change r34 to xxxohm" for this tone.. you probably wont find it. and I wont advise it either. voids warranty. but if you know the circuits of amps.. like in Dave hunters Amp book, you can find your way.

I seriously doubt I have any warranty as this point. The only real mod I can think of at this point would be to add an independent gain control to my clean channel, thats the main thing, but i see that most of the splawns with the indepedent gain, have 4 12ax7s

I would like to have all 3 Gears footswitchable with my midiswitcher.
Soundwise the PM is perfect, I only boost it with a cleanboost for a litte more gain.
Regards

Modding it would hurt the resale value, if you want gain control for the clean channel just sale your amp and buy a newer version with the new clean.

yeah, i wish the gears were MIDI too..
I'm so used to amp mod forums, this is just craziness to me. I understand though, I usually don't deal in $2000 boutique-ish amps.
My other tube amps are PEavey windsor, and epiphone valve junior, i guess I'll jsut stick to modding them and leave my promod alone

Well those are amps you kinda have to get modded to sound good, there are a lot of bang for the buck amps that you buy cheap to get modded or tweaked, Splawn is not on of them.

Yeah I mean a Peavey and Epiphone!?. why not mod some cheapo mass produced amp. I'm with ya on that. You could mod them into coffee tables for that matter.

I understand the tinkering but I would never mod my Splawn in a way to change the tone. It would be like hot-rodding a 2009 Corvette! Why would you want too ;D Have you tried a amp kit?

I've built a few small amps of simple design and am currently working on one of my own design, just LOVE tinkering. I am really curious about KT66s. I keep hearing stuff about them and thats one thing I'd really like to try in my pro mod

If you like to tinker with your equipment, like I do, the first and safest place to start IMO is with tubes. I have several tube amps and it is amazing to me how much you can change the sound of the amp just by changing the brand of tube. I have a Pro Mod that originally had the JJ preamp and KT-88 power tubes. I first changed all the pre amp tubes to Tung-Sol's and it sounded much creamier, I love trying to describe sounds with words! Then I swapped the KT-88 to Tung-Sol 6550. Again, I was very happy with the change. At one time I had a THD BiValve 30 that you could just stick any tube in that would fit and you could really tell how much difference tubes make it you overall sound. Also if you like a little less gain you can substitute a 5751 pre amp tube in the first gain stage, usally closest to where you plug in, and make the amp sound completely different. I have some GE 5751 that sound great. So you can really drive yourself completely insane just with tube swaps!
