I had a variety of pickups in my Rico Jr. guitars but still wanted more tone and response so I ordered a set of duncan AHB-1s Blackouts. These things rip!!! They are very toneful and warm yet extremely articulate and aggressive. With the gain at 1:00 on the gain channel and volume at 9:30 or so it is brutal. They really clean up nice when you roll back the guitar volume, then floor it for pinch harmonic heaven. These things are amazingly versatile...which surprised me in an active pickup. I will be ordering another set for my other Rico. They are a perfect match for the Nitro. Now I can even get a real good blues tone on the Nitro's clean channel. Also, the Blackouts took 90% of the idle noise out of the amp. Great piano clean, blues grind and metal tone!!! They also make a Blackout "Metal" bridge pickup that has an added boost function for solo boosting. I may try that in the bridge of my other Rico along with the regular AHB-1 neck. Anyway, this pickup added much life to my sound.
