Damn, This amp is sweet. I don't want to take the time to write a long review because I need to go back and play it... like right now. One thing is worrying me though. This amp is REALLY LOUD!!! which is cool, but I have a 2X12 cabinet that is rated at only 60W. Is it possible to blow these bad boys out? I gotta go back and play, I'll write more about the amp later. Still trying to wrap my head around it...

Shouldn't be a problem with the Comp as it is only a 50 watt amp.... I say go for it.

Excellent, Mr Ball. Glad to hear it. Yes, they are Satanically loud. Now you know why there's so much discussion about volume control. Be sure to turn your Solo knob up to 9 PM or so, even though you're not using Solo Boost. I didn't learn that little trick for months. Gives the amp a much fuller sound at low volumes. Enjoy.

Oh, and tell me how you're liking the Comp with the Gold/G12H30 cross. I finally got round to ordering a G12H30 (Hellatone 30) a few weeks ago so I'm running that same combination myself. It's a beautiful cross, clear but warm, except the H30 is causing a super boomy bass on some notes on the low E string. I keep flipping back and forward between Gold/H30 and Gold/V30, can't make up my mind. The V30 lacks the detail but is warm and loose with less bass boom. The H30 has lovely detail and a more even response, but isn't as syrupy warm and has that thunder boom on a few frets. So many times this month I've been thankful the open back on the Avatar 2x12 has just enough room to get a speaker in and out, so I don't have to take the back panel off every time. Earlier today I isolated my cab from the hardwood floor, up on a couple of crates, and that seemed to tame some (not all) of that wild boom, so maybe it's partly my house.

Welcome to the famn damily mrball. I have a 2x12 with Big blocks - loud as heck. I'm thinking about going with a small block in the mix, though. Not sure. Your 60 watter should work. Go and play around in triode mode for awhile and report back!

Alright, so now that it's too late to play anymore I can write a little bit more. So as I stated before I love the tone of this amp, it really is amazing and blows anything else out of the water that I've tried. The thing that really shocked me was the volume. It seems to jump very dramatically right away. It does sound pretty crappy though at low volume so I'm going to have to figure out something to do about that so I can play in my house. Can't crank it all the time! So far I seem to like full power mode better then half power. Half just seems to lack the balls but maybe I need to mess around with the settings more. I also love how you can roll of the volume and the amp cleans up great. Overall I am very happy with the amp. For shows and recording it will be fantastic but I'm thinkin I'll try the volume pedal in the loop trick to save my ears at home. Ayton, thanks for all your help man. You were the first person I ever contacted about Splawn amps cause I saw your video on youtube. I really like the Gold G12H30 combo. I know what you mean about the boomy bass, I had to turn the bass way down on the Comp. But this combo seems to be very warm and works well with the amp.
So does anyone have any suggestions on which volume pedal to check out? Hopefully something that's not too expensive but does the job well. It's great to be in the fam, these are awesome amps!

I got a Bespeco volume pedal for around 15$. You could also get one of those volume boxes on ebay.

I have both the Morley Little Alligator and I have the Omnisonic unit. I fried a resistor in the loop when I was using the Alligator. I doubt it was the Alligator's fault - but probably just a bad resistor which happens because probability happens, but since I'm a girl about these kinds of things I'm not using it anymore. But lately, I like my Hot Plate. I guess I'm in the minority, but I think the Hot Plate works just fine. Either way you go, I think they all work fine but each have their little nuances. Sweet!

Thanks a lot for the suggestions guys. I ended up ordering one of the Omnisonic volume boxes off of ebay. It's nice they are so cheap. Oh, and today I found out that my amp is famous! If you want to check it out it was chosen for the Competition picture on the new Splawn site.
