What's up with all the Splawn gear being peddled on E-bay? This spooks me a bit - Thinking others have been dissapointed with there investment. Should I reconsider the leap of faith (quickrod w/o playing in person) I am saving for? Tell me no please - I can't stand the thought of continuing the search for tone. As if it ever ends... c0pp3r

Very true, Shred. Plus, many times I have found that it is a retailer selling Splawn gear and not an individual, even though it might look that way from the auction.
I bought MY QR off of Ebay. I'm happy. If I could just get Scott to hook me up with some 3rd gear action...

If I could just get Scott to hook me up with some 3rd gear action... there's a very small turnaround on these things..with good reason that's right, didn't you say that he's not doing any mods right now cause they're too busy? I think I'll make a D tuned third gear clip for you guys tonight

Shred - 3 "right now" is the key to my paranoia... Over the past month or so it seems as if there has been at least 2 or 3 new listings each week. All of which have sold in a hurry. I know...., I know.... I am just being a dork but, considering that when I first started drooooooling over a quickrod there were 0 on E-bay, it just makes me wonder. I mean, if a quickrod does half of what I anticipate - I'll never let go!
Truth be known - The public is only recently learning of Scott's great products creating the spike upwards of the number in circulation. This is what I keep telling myself anyway.
Scott - totally missed the retailer possibility - duh.
Just tell me again how much you guys love your gear and I will hush with the conspiracy theories. Thanks for the support, c0pp3r

Thanks for the support, c0pp3r yeah, I've noticed a couple on there from time to time, but it's nothing compared to all the other high end amp makers that are always cropping up evilbay.. even on the Harmony Central forums, there's always people selling engl Powerballs, Peavy 5150's, Bogners, Framus, mesas....very rarely do I see a splawn up there..usually people are replying to my threads saying how much they want one =) gotta realize that some people are just NEVER happy with their gear...they buy a name cause such and such uses it, then don't like it... I would always expect to find a QR or PM on ebay..just cause ya can't please everybody... I don't think you'll be disappointed in the quick rod, my friend =) i was nervous as hell when I placed my order...hahah.but hey, when ya can't try one out what can ya do>? if you REALLY wanna err on the side of safety, you could get one from Derek B at www.rocksolidamps.comthey have a 48 hour trial period...

I will consider that - thanks for the suggestion. Can you get a custom job that way (Rocksolid) or just have to take what they have?

i pray that people sell their splawns on ebay...nice opportunity for me to pick up another of these great amps CHEAP...
in all honesty, a) some people on ebay are DEALERS b) some people sell them because they're too powerful for them (ie they're looking for a bedroom amp) c) you can't please evrybody...
that doesn't mean there's anything wrong with the splawns...alot o fpeople by boutique gear/try it/sell it and then move on to the next boutique gear...
and 3 splawns (one is a cab) on ebay is nothing...do you know how large the ebay community is?
like i said...i'd like to see more...i want another one

Can you get a custom job that way (Rocksolid) or just have to take what they have? i bought my current quick rod through "rock solid". derek is a great guy to work with, but they generally do not have any in stock and you have to special order it, which means you can get it anyway you want...

i've been gigging a splawn now every weekend for about 5 months...i retried my vetta for 2 weeks a few weeks ago and liked it because it was easier to carry around but i reworked my live rig because i couldn't stop thinking about that splawn tone and the QR is back
the only reason the vetta came back in the first place was because, unlike most people, i need to cover tones from the bee gees to metallica...i was able to restructure my rig and now i'm able to get those desired tones also
