Dudes, it's finally on the way! White plexi style with the gold pinstripe. Perfect timing too cause my band has our first paying gig next weekend. It's gonna be so much more face melting using the comp instead of the crappy dsl combo i've been stuck with for years. I talked to Scott and he couldn't have been nicer. He said he couldn't stop playing through the amp and thought there was something really great sounding about it. That's right, it's special... maybe even magical. I've never been so happy to have 780 dollars taken out of my bank account! I'll let you know what I think when I get it and try to post some sound clips.

I think Scott prefers the Comp over the QR. He likes to roll off cleans. I could be speaking out of turn, tho

I think Scott prefers the Comp over the QR. Don't know about Scott, but I know I prefer the Comp over the Q.R. ;D

If that's for the previous note- 1. Personally, I don't need a "clean" channel - roll the volume on the guitar back and voila. 2. Abiltiy to footswitch select between different "Gears" on the fly for more 'Amp' tones vs. Clean/Dirty channel selection. 3. Ability to have a 'cranked' EL34 tone at 25 watts is AMAZINGly useful - same tone, very similar feel, for every gig no matter the situation. 2 and 3 were the big ones for me. Especially the latter. If you need an attenuator with your amp or have to run a volume control in the effects loop all the time, you have the wrong amp. Tubes need to 'cook' to get that natural clip/compression/tone/sustain/etc. I have no use for a 100 watt amp...and frankly, rarely do for a 50 watt amp. I'd be using an attenuator for both all the time - wrong amp for me [mind you, my goal was all drive/volume/gain to come from the amp - no pedals. That's freakin' loud with most EL34/Marshall based amps...too loud.] But the Compy at 25 watts - lovely!! - Volume around 10:00 gets the goods the way Scott has the QR/Comp setup - and 10:00 on the Compy at 25 watts is a great gig level with roaring tone/pre and power amp gain. I'd freak if Scott would incorporate a London Power Scaling option in his amps...ability to take the full pentode EL34 wattage down to small club/bedroom levels??? Yeah, I'd freak.

dweller, excellent reasons. I was maybe wondering if you'd played both and found a diff between the two. Like you, I think the 25 watt feature is awesome, and I really like that tone for bedroom playing. I kinda miss having a clean channel, tho. But, with enough practice (which I don't do), you can dial in a pretty dang good "rock" clean tone just using 1st gear and your volume knob. Hell, I've done it on 3rd gear for that matter. Duh, Matt. Because it's better. What a n00b. Ayt, Guess which finger I'm holding up right now ;D
