gentlemen, just picked up a used nitro...it's coming with KT77s...are EL34s or EL34Bs a direct replacement without blowing up the amp?

yes they're all considered EL34's.
I've got a quaret of ruby KT88's on the way. gotta run out to radioshack sometime this week and pick up one of the little 47K 1/2 watt resistors needed to give the amp the correct bias range for these higher wattage tubes.

hey guys, whats the recommended bias range for EL34s in the Nitro? I realized I have some older SED Winged =C= EL34s that I'd like to try in there.
Thanks

Same on KT77s. 30-32MA. Ruby EL34STRs are the best in a Nitro. Call Doug at Dougs tubes and talk to him about them. He'll send a good matched set. I tried Tung Sols and they didn't have quite the sack that the Rubys did. I like Tung Sols in a Quick Rod though. Rubys in a Quick Rod. Eh. Not as good as in a Nitro. I think someone on here has tried Wing Cs and didn't care for them in a Nitro.

hey guys, can someone remind me which trimpot(s) are for the Bias? I am gonna be trying some tubes in my Nitro and would like to bias it properly.
I have the Weber meter with the Probes.
Thanks

It is the one with the small brass adjustor. As far as 77s and STRs the 77s sound decent, but don't last very long. The STRs sound really good.

Thanks! is there a value/number on the board I can look for to know exactly which it is? I might have to check into those STRs to see what they're like. I have a set of KT77s and SED =C= EL34s coming back to me from testing. I am going to test both and hear the difference.
