Hello I am Andrea from Italy. I am the lucky owner of a Splawn Competition, but it is troubly and expensive to have it in Italy, shipping and taxes almost double the cost of the amp. I suggested more than once at the Splawn email to think about a new poject: a Splawn Overdrive Pedal. I think it would be a very appreciated item both from Spalwn users as the optimum overdrive/booster to place in front af their amp, and by all those people who can not afford a Splawn amp, maybe because shipping such an heavy item is too much expensive. What do you think about this idea? Do you know if Mr Splawn is working or thinking about this project? Maybe this discussion cuold be convincing. Thanks a lot, Andrea.

Hi Andrea, I think that creating a pedal that conveyed the Splawn sound would be great, but I don't think it's something that could come about easily. Scott is forever busy at the moment and I think the R&D required to create something like this would be difficult to start and maintain. I have spoken to Scott and he is looking for dealers in Europe. Which I would very much like to be! Hopefully this would avoid much of the duty and shipping excess. My QR including shipping to the UK and taxes cost me £1200, One of my greatest purchases ever.

I think it is a cool idea....but I also think Pauldem is correct....Scott is probably way to busy cranking out his awesome amps to develop a pedal at this point.

Yes and a Splawn pedal will sound nothing like a Splawn amp nor would it make your amp soundlike a Splawn. We're talking about two different things here an OD pedal vs an amp are two different leagues and what ever amp you are using with a pedal has a huge impact on the tone.

I also had an idea about some kind of Splawn pedal after seeing some amp companies coming up with distortion pedals. However I agree with all of the above posters, it won't be an alternative to having a Splawn amp, nothing would, or everyone would just buy clean amps and overdrive\distortion pedals. And as mentioned, Scott won't have the time to develope such a pedal, with only him and Josh building all of the amps i'm suprised he even had time to develope the Nitro and Superstock.

why would scott try to develop a pedal when he can sell you an amp? simple economics ;D
(all above points are valid also)

But I think it would be cool to develop an OD pedal geared toward the Splawn. A clean boost resulting in more saturation would be cool. But, yeah Vom has a point.

Hey Matt, Thanks for the birthday wish. The only thing I could think of is maybe Scott partnering with an existing pedal company. I think most guys on here use some kind of boost, so Scott could select one he likes best and look to brand it. Of course this would not sound like Splawn, it would simply compliment it. And the thing is that as per the boost pedal discussions not everyone would like a set boost sound. So It's a nice idea, but very difficult to tackle. Especially as Scott is currently developing the Splawn Hetro to help me with past problems ;D

There are soooooo many OD pedals out there to do whatever you need so I don't see it being worth Scott's time to put work into it.
