First of all I just want to say that I am new here. I ordered a Quick Rod a few weeks ago and so am expecting it before too long. I have had fun browsing through these threads. Great forum Splawnfan!
Craig, you mentioned in another thread you heard a Quickrod and a Voodoo Witchdoctor head to head. My final amp decision came down to deciding between Voodoo (though I was probably going to go with their Vplex) and the Splawn. I have not received my Quickrod yet and so am still wondering if I made the right choice. Could you elaborate a little on why you thought the Splawn sounded better. I have never heard either amp in person just web clips, and read reviews.
I think Scotts attitude on the phone is what mostly sold me on the Splawn.
Thank-you

Well, I realize its completely subjective, but I just didn't like the way the Voodoo was voiced. My buddy Scott who owns the amp was really dissapointed because he thought he was getting what the QR has and didn't. It just didn't seem the have 'the' sound that the QR did. Good amounts of gain, but not quite, good bottom, but not quite, good warmth, but not quite, etc etc etc.
My opinion is that Trace from voodoo does ALOT of different things really well. Scott does 1 thing and 1 thing perfectly.

Cool, thanks. Yeah, it is a subjective question but based on your style and what you like to play your answer says a lot. I think most of us that find our way to Splawn sort of have a generation of music in common and can relate when someone says 'the' sound. ;D
Trace at Voodoo also was great on the phone and I was really torn between his amp and the Splawn. It's hard to really tell from web clips because you have to listen beyond the various recording setups but the Quickrod just seems to have something special going on.
Thanks again for your time!
