Don't feel lonely, I think there are less of us out there! I have been using a mesa cab w/v30s...Sounds killer. Others would probably disagree. I also play it through an old ampeg 2x12 with 75watt celestions and it sounds great through it as well.
As far as tubes go, mine has kt77s and I have not changed them or biased them since I've owned it, so I don't have an opinion on that yet.
Wait till you get the footswitch! OD2 is where its at in any gear!! Good luck with it.

Sooooo, if I understand correctly, there are 3 gears PLUS 2 OD's per gear? And the solo boost? Yep, the solo boost also turns on OD 2. The QR forum is the most popular and gets most of the threads, but don't worry there are a few of us comp owners in here. Why didn't you get a footswitch with yours? Regarding speakers, I have a Splawn 2x12 with small blocks 25\65 and it's awsome, much better than my old Avatar with V30's.

Not much chatter in the Compy area. Still getting to know mine...waiting on the footswitch to dig a little deeper on how to use it (live/studio setup, tones, etc.). Cool head...tracks great and loves different guitars. Takes pedals really well too. Though, I don't plan on using any drives outside the natural gain of the amp...but that might change with the footswitch gets here and I see how this thing 'rolls'. What seems to be the general consensus for speakers? Folks running the stock tube and bias setup? DW There's just not many of us out there! Most peeps seem to want a "clean channel" whatever that is. Still the best amp I've ever played. I guess I should make a new thread now and then restating that. Stock tubes and bias. I ran the Eminence cross pattern for the first 7 or 8 months, killer punchy edgy sound, but punishing and not entirely me. Recently switched to Celestion Gold for a smoother, more liquid sort of thing, looser feel. Really loving the angry Splawn/smooth Gold combo. EDIT: Oh, and I only use a pedal with a Strat, which is rare. The Comp has more than enough gain on tap for everything I want to do, and I avoid pedals if possible.

drweller how much did you pay for your comp? I'm actually really missing the clean channel cause in my current band I need one, but i've found a way around it by connecting an external preamp and using it as a clean channel, just need to buy the preamp now and hear how if it sounds good. I'm also really interested in the tonal difference of the QR vs Comp, from the clips of the QR it seems to have more bottom end than my comp.

Man $900 is a great price, cheapest used splawn ever. The comp used to cost $1350 untill jammermatt told scott he should raise the price, and he did... Luckily I got mine before that.
I agree there are a lot of variables in those clips, but it just seems like the QR has more bottom end and punch, and my comp is kinda browner.

I'm using the Splawn 2x12 with Big Blocks. Huge sounding. Stock EL34s and bias here as well. Using the OD2 will open a whole new world. I don't use any kind of overdrive pedal in front, neither.

I'm also really interested in the tonal difference of the QR vs Comp, from the clips of the QR it seems to have more bottom end than my comp. I picked it up for $900. It's new - the package was damaged in shipment and covered by insurance then sold thru a 3rd party clearing house auction. Guy here bought it and then flipped it...he made some money and I got a great amp. I was looking at having Scott build one - but the wait...had an older Soldano on the radar and then this popped up. It's hard to tell differences between amps from the clips. Cabinets, speakers, tubes (just on vs long cook, age, bias), guitars, eq's, miking (placement, settings, etc), amp settings, strings, how hard someone was playing, etc - too many variables. Only way to know is to reamp the same riff thru different heads A/B'd into the same cab/mic setup w/out anything else changing. Other than that, I'd have to have the 2 heads setting on top of each other and A/B them into the same cab. Dude, I checked out your website. Pretty impressive Bio you have there. Cool site
