Windsen isn't the attack determined by the bias?

Windsen isn't the attack determined by the bias? well the bias depends on how much the tubes draw (i.e. the tube rating). a lower rating number will mean that you'll have to turn the bias pot up to get the tube to draw the current that you are wanting. a higher number is the opposite. thus the bias will be influenced by the tubes. i've tried two sets of SED EL34s in my QR..one quad was rated around 29mA, the other around 42mA. big difference in the feel of the amp. the 29 mA set (which came with my nitro) was much spongier, earlier breakup. some people like that but i wanted a bit more headroom and tighter response. i didn't realize this until much later so that's why i want to try EL34s in the nitro again, this time with higher rated tubes.

my 77's were rated at 34MA and the el34l's were also rated at 34ma.the original 77's that came with the nitro that blew were 33/34MA.I do know i like the el34l's better.it is safe to say if I try anything else with the nitro it will be a plain ass quality el34.I am done with the 77's.I may try the 77's in my guitarists dc5 or in the booggerah.

I'm hearing more bite.the highs sound better to me and the lows are still plentiful and I'm getting that marshall like mid growl that I originally expected from the nitro.the amp still sounds low-mid voiced so it didn't magicaly become a QR.
To me the 77's sounded a little dull.as far as responce the amp seems just as tight.mind you last night I was pretty much blowing my load having it work and sound good to my ear with a few adjustments.
that's the best i can do for now bro.I am surprsed you didn't try these before the SED EL34's.

Man I have no idea what my tubes are rated at. How do you find out? Mine came in plain white boxes. No numbers yada yada. I did request higher rated tubes when I ordered them.

well the stock tube boxes are marked.so I got a set from splawn matched the same, and then ordered a set from tubedepot and asked for the same match.

GT tubes are mostly relabled brands, like their el34m model is mullard relabeled, and el34l is jj el34l relabled. For biasing the splawn you'll need to take out the chasis and adjust the screw inside, which could be dangerous if you touch those high voltage caps in there.
