Anyone know how much Scott charges to add 3rd gear to a Quck Rod?

Just to clarify, I talked to Scott this morning for a while and got the scoop on 3rd gear directly from the man.
1st gear is the old low input, more of an EVH brown OD. 2nd gear is the same as the older stock Quick Rods 3rd Gear is like OD2 on the older QR's with an added gain stage. Yes, an extra higher gain stage. Hitting OD2 on 3rd gear will offer higher gain than any previous Splawn model.
The footswitch and switching functionality will remain the same on the new models.

one thing I'm curious about as far as the third gear goes...does the solo boost still work in the same manner if you have it set on third gear? more compression, etc, etc? or is it just a volume thing at that point...

hmmm, well the lead boost will funtion in the same way,, louder means the EL34's work harder which translates into more compression. Also the lead boost also auto-kicks the OD2 on like it always has.

ah, I see...but, can you be on OD2 let's say, and still use the boost? (third gear aside...let's just say no matter what gear your in...)
just tryin' to figure out some of the functionality of this amp =D

Uh, well when you boost you'll goto OD2 whether your on OD1 or OD2, so yes.

Shreder- Don't get the gears mixed up with channel switching or the solo boost. The gears are simply inputs. Think of it like this- There are three inputs, Low, High and Higher. You plug your guitar into one of them and you still have channel switching and the solo boost no matter which one you plug into. Instead of having three separate jacks for inputs (or two on the old QR or four on an old Marshall), Scott just made one input and the input sensitivity is controlled from a switch. You still have the lead channel you can switch to and a separate solo boost as well. Hope that hleps.

yeah, I think Im straight on the gears...I was just curious about how the solo boost works..cause Iv'e seen mention several times that it puts you into OD2
I'm guessing the solo boost has its own individual volume on the amp's face?

I have an older Pro-Stock but I can think of a great reason to have a selectable INPUT gain.
When I switch guitars from HB's to SC's the SC guitar in my case is WAY lower in volume and gain.
Might be a cool idea to play the HB's through a lower level gear and then play the SC's through a hotter input to help keep guitar levels equal ?

Shreder- Yes the solo boost has a separate volume control.
NoFX- The input selection changes your gain (distortion & compression), low end, and volume. It might be too much of a tone change to use it as a leveler for different guitars. I don't think it would work for me but you may try it and like it.
