I'd like to check them both out, but the Super-Stock sounds killer from what you guys are saying. I think you get used to less gain over time. It takes a while to ween yourself off of it but your playing adjusts and after a while you hardly miss it.. I am also a 1st gear guy nowadays too.

I have less gain dialed in on everything. To the point of no sustain when I practice technique. I do that to make myself work harder.

The Super-Stock seemed to be a little more open/less compressed than the Quickrod. I would liken it to Gear 1 on the QR but closer to that old Plexi/JCM 800 feel with more gain...and better sounding... ;D

Would someone please let me know when is the Super Stock going to be available. I have been reviewing the Demo Video of Scott playing it and I am very interested in it. I am having a hard time choosing between the amps, they all sound so good I want one of each. All in good time, but an initial choice must be made. Thanks, David...

Shreder; Did you play the Super Stock at the conventionand what do you think has a better Modded Plexi tone, QR 1st Gear or Super Stock? David... I'm not shredder, but I did play the SS at the convention... ;D The SS "only" has 3 gain stages, which is still more than plenty. If you want something a little more true to the modded Plexi tone, I liked the SS the best. It was a little less compressed, and a little more open sounding...ala an old Marshall. The Splawns compress a lot more than the older counterparts we compare them too (mostly old Marshalls), but the SS was the exception. It's hard to explain, but the "feel" is slightly different with it. Now, you'll have more gain on the QR Gear 1, which is actually my favorite on on QR. However, it's compressed a bit more. So, it's really a matter of what you want IMO. I think the SS nails the old modded Plexi tone better because it's a little more open, but if you need more gain than a slightly modded Plexi, you can't go wrong with the QR on Gear 1. As always, just my opinions...YMMV.

Thanks for the reply guys. The SS sounds like the one for me I like a less gain, more ballsy sound. What do you think about the SS with KT-88's ? David...

Fat bottom, but be careful they may tighten-up the low-end more then you want. EL-34 are a huge factor in old Marshall tone to my ears. Just my $.02.
