Was playing my Splawn tonight and plugged an old boss overdrive pedal in. Sounded crappy so I unplugged it. At that point the amp started buzzing like a 60 cycle hum. Changed the cord, changed guitars, checked ground on guitars. Everything looked good so I replaced all the pre amp tubes whith a new set i had laying around. Still no luck. Could it be a power tube going bad? Any help would be appreciated.

Plugged anything new in to the same power strip as the amp lately? How about the wall wart for that pedal?

Plugged directly into the outlet and was using a battery in the pedal.

I didn't catch what specific model of amp you have. But if it's a 100 watter, then this is something you can do to rule out an output tube going bad:
- Put the amp in 50 watt mode. - See if it still hums. - If it still hums, pull the two outside power tubes. - See if it still hums. - If it still hums, swap the two remaining tubes with the ones you pulled out. - See if it still hums. - If it still hums, then high probability the hum is NOT related to the output tubes.

Can a moderator maybe do something to improve the font up top that indicates which forum a thread is sitting in so it is at least readable? I never noticed which forum this thread belonged to because the font up top is almost un-noticable.
